I'm using up the last of Sunday's roast pork tonight by making a pork and pineapple stir fry with rice. This will also use up a couple of slightly bendy carrots and a few leftover broccoli florets. It doesn't sound all that tasty when I say it like that, but I'm sure it will be lovely0

Suki you gotta love free food, we have had some lovely Bass and a few mackerel, just waiting for shooting season to kick off for free foul
I don't know if it's a change in the weather, or what, but I am not sleeping and feel wrecked and CBA with much cooking - tonights offering is grilled gammon steaks with jacket spud for DH and cauliflower cheese for both - if DH asks for a ring of pineapple I will throw the tin at him :rotfl: I am not fond of sweet and savoury combosNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

I love free food
He dropped me of two pollocks ( the other was larger, I gave that to a neighbour as she supplies me with jam and she has two strapping lads to feed) and 6 mackerel In return he took a dozen eggs
That wee baby made 21 portions of fish to be battered and fried in the coming weeks. Ive already a pile in the freezer from last month, I shared that haul with the Bosses mum as I get my chips and veg free from there
I do accept fowl and rabbit but Im not really keen but hate to see anything killed and not ate
Had to dispatch a hen yesterday, because he was poorly he went to the neighbours dogs0 -
Have a friend coming around to pick something up. She has an extraordinary habit of turning up at the time appropriate meal time.
Was going to do the (delicious) Heidi Swanson roasted tomato salad for me but having a small chicken to use up have decided instead to do Chicken with Mustard (Poulet À La Moutarde) by David Lebovitz Pg. 169. Think mustard, bacon, white white, creme fraiche, thyme. Will be serving with linguine.
Suki1964 love the idea of bartering fresh food but no chance here in London.0 -

I'm not surprised she turns up at meal times, she ain't daft :rotfl:
I make something similar with Lapin (Rabbit) a really lovely classic French dish, and another one that rarely pays for eggs, fish, foul and game, we recently got some amazing squid, or as we used to call it - Bait
At least you can shop for any type of food, we are severely restricted on more (for the island) exotic ingredients, you should have seen our local greengrocer when I asked then to source some pea aubergine

Well just make sure you follow it up with launching the tin opener at the poor chap too :rotfl:
I too love the idea of bartering free food
I had some salad and two large garlic and cheese stuffed mushrooms which, talking of free food, DM gave to me because she decided she didn't want them. Not quite the same but at least they didn't go to waste :money:Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16
