Terrible experience following a switch from Together energy.
Close my account in November 2018 and still trying to get a refund. I have raised a case with the energy ombudsman to try and sort this out.
I would not recommend or use Together Energy again!!0 -
pknottm. I sympathise with you having been 'chased' myself for an erroneous debt. In my instance it was by Paypal. I do not think any debt collection agency will 'call off the dogs' after a phone call. I am sure these debt collection agencies have heard every excuse under the sun and then a few more. I would advise you to write to them (recorded) stating that " I dispute this debt " I also stated I would only pay this debt if told to due so by a court and invited them to take me to court. (I was sure of my grounds) In my case I did this with 4 or 5 debt collection agencies over about 5 years as each one presumably gave up and the debt was 'sold on' to another agency. This was some years ago now and I never paid, I never went to court, and I have never heard anything since ! They overwhelmingly rely on the 'fear factor' but you probably know this ?0

This company took over from failed OneSelect in Dec 2018 (appointed by OFGEM). I switched to another supplier which went 'live' on 18 Jan 2019. They failed to respond to phone calls or e mails & when they sent my 'final bill' it was full of errors. They ignored my meter readings & used their own estimates. In spite of my switch to a new supplier in Jan 2019 they took direct debits in Feb & March 2019 totalling £290.00. I complained through the ombudsman service who awarded in my favour but still no refund of credit due. I claimed back the 2 direct debit payments from my bank under the 'Direct Debit Guarantee Scheme in July 2019. I received a final full credit payment in early Aug 2019 nearly 8 months after switching.
AVOID THIS SUPPLIER AT ALL COSTS IF YOU VALUE YOUR SANITY0 -
I would advise anybody contemplating moving to TE to read their Trust Pilot reviews:

This is easily the worst utility company I have ever dealt with - all my dealing with other companies in the past have been nothing less than good and some outstandingly so. Together Energy customers' service is appalling. I closed my account with them in January because of high costs and poor customer service - had a final bill which was settled by direct debit. They never answered my queries about this bill. Then today - over 6 moths later - they took an unauthorised payment from my bank account. AVOID BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY - they do things to you - they do not work together with you! (See TRUSTPILOT Reviews for them ... so many 1 star reviews posted just today - WE CAN'T ALL BE WRONG!) - I think they might be going bust.0

Madref How did they take this “unauthorised payment” ? Did you not cancel the direct debit ?0

I finally had my refund but not until I asked to lodge a complaint, once that happened it took a few more weeks and I had my money.0

Absolutely Awful experience.
I was switched to together energy when one select went bust. at first all seemed well. i tried to switch and they kept objecting as there was a debt on my account, i paid this in full by debit card at the moment they told me there was a balance on the account due to them not taking enough on my DD, even after the debt was paid they refused the switch again and after numerous calls they we still telling me that i owed the balance, then when i asked them to speak to the accounts department they could confirm my account was in fact in credit. yet again they objected to my switch on my gas account only this time. so i am now not on a dual fuel tariff with the cashback promised. with my new supplier avoid this company at all costs !!!!!0 -
I left with just under £100 in credit, now owed an extra £30 compensation and by next week will be owed a second £30. However given this thread this seems to be theoretical money.
They are ignoring all emails and every time I call told will be paid by the end of the week, but that never happens.
How are they getting away with this? Worried they will soon be out of business and we will all lose our money!0 -

Just contact your bank and explain that you are owed money and they will refund you virtually immediately (next day in our case) under the Direct Debit Guarantee Scheme.0
