Has anyone had Christmas day on the strip?
We have been lucky enough to spend Christmas afternoon on the strip (flown out Christmas Day both times). We found that most things were open including the food courts so it was easy to get something quick to eat. If l remember correctly the little street leading to the Lin Q High Roller had entertainment.

I could only find flights of around £1200+ direct, not sure we want to hang around an airport for hours. Not sure if l mentioned the prices for both hotels are for 2 people inc flights.
We did wonder if we should wait and see if prices go down. We can fly from Sat 6 April and need to be back 23 April so any time between then for 7 days is fine. We do prefer smaller type hotels.
I uderstand you not wanting to go indirect, that doesn't bother me having done it many times.
Of your original dates if you could stretch your budget a little more, Mirage is on offer for £908 each. I.m.o the prices are on the high side but I suppose that is the time of year. I am in the mindset to wait and just keep checking but that is the way I am to get the best deal.
Checking your dates for Excal through Smatervegas it will cost $700 (approx £540) which includes resort fees, that offer also includes two buffets per night. Whereas the Thomas cook booking resort fees are extra and it only includes two buffets per stay.
So roughly DIY with indirect flights and option to change hotels and additional buffets:
Flights £1200 and Hotel £ 540 = £1740
Thomas cook booking direct flights
Package £1657 plus resort fees $250 (£190) = ~ £18470 -
KIT1 -I would forget the Thomas Cook websites - it is expensive - try Expedia you will get the TC flight for the same price but by adding a hotel you could save a bit.0

Just paid £899.98 with them for a return trip in premium economy next September. I will probably have been lucky to get the same trip in basic with Virgin from Manchester for under £1200 once their prices finally come out, and I cant do the trip easily in economy to be honest. Maybe Im just a snob as I did it in First a few years ago (on a staff fare with a friend) and its a bit of a comedown!
Just looked at the cost today. £770.
Wish I hadn't :cool:0 -
I know I asked previously about people's experience of flying Air Tanker and the lack of seat back entertainment. However when I have re read the email from Thimas Cook telling us about the change to Air Tanker it gave me a code for which fleet we are on (G-VYGK) and its specifications and its shows it has seat back entertainment...however fleet G-VYGM doesn't ... has anyone flew with them recently out of Manchester ??0

When I asked Thomas Cook about their routes to Vegas next year they told me the Man-LAS route would NOT be an Air Tanker one. Quick way to check is go to their website and search for flights. If you dont get a Premium Economy option then its an Air Tanker.
As for now, plane G-VYGM (the one of the two with no seatback entertainment) seems to be based in Glasgow for the autumn:

The other (G-VYGK), the one WITH seatback and the one your email states, is currently based at Manchester

Hiya peeps.
Quick question. Was having a potter on Expedia, and came across a hotel on the Strip called the 'NoMad'. It seems to be slightly up from the MGM Grand.
I've never heard of it before, looks to be a new(ish) one. Anybody know exactly what it used to be? Ta.
BTW, I've just seen on FB that earlier, Co-op Travel was offering 7 nights in Vegas at the Stratosphere, indirect flights (stop at Philly) from Manchester, in March £399pp. Don't know if there were any extras to pay, but you have to call them to book it. HTH anybody who is considering a short trip and is on a budget.BEST EVER WINS WON IN ORDER (so far) = Sony Camcorder, 32" lcd telly, micro ipod hifi, Ipod Nano, Playstation 3, Andrex Jackpup, Holiday to USA, nintendo wii, Liverpool vs Everton tickets, £250 Reward Your thirst, £500 Pepsi, p&o rotterdam trip, perfume hamper, Dr Who stamp set, steam cleaner.
