So much to read, so little time.8 -

OOooh, shall be walking past the shops in the suburb where I got my Lodden shirt from earlier in the year, hope the nice donor has had another sort out and has donated to the shop again, fingers crossed.
Very exciting having the shops opening again, I have missed mooching round and having a quick chat with the staff, hope they've missed us customers too.6 -
Had a lovely afternoon walking around my local charity shops today. Every single one was open and only had to queue once to get in, (BHF shop). Just what I needed as it almost felt like life was back to normal despite being in Tier 3. Even bumped into my favourite street cat - a chonky calico girl who was sunning herself on top of a wheelie bin Her name is FiFi but I always call her tartycat cos she is anyone's for a scritch and a fuss. Anyhoo....to business...most of the shops seemed to have restocked but I only made one purchase....a pair of what I call 'bovver boots'. Always fancied some Doc Martens but feel I'm a bit too old so these are a slightly 'calmer' version. From M & S current stock, brand new and priced at £25 in Oxfam. I left them initially as I didn't want to make an expensive impulse buy I might regret and so I walked on but decided to have a squiz on the M & S website where I was gobsmacked to see that they originally sold at £110 and are now reduced to £77. I ran back at a speed that would have impressed Mo Farrow!!! So pleased to say that they fit perfectly and the leather is a really gorgeous quality. I feel quite trendy tho goodness knows what one wears with them apart from skinny jeans???

bought a lovely small sofa for £45 and a antique type chair for £15 in a local CS shop called Orange Box. Had been going to pay £95 for a less nice one in BHF so feeling well chuffed. Saw a gorgeous Ted Baker handbag in local boutiquey hospice shop for £25. DH was with me so I dropped some very heavy hints that I would like it for Chrimbo so fingers crossed.8

I don’t know if it’s bec of the amount of donations CS are getting but I’m finding items cheaper.
i look for items for me and for another charity to auction at Christmas.Today’s lucky finds were 2 Spode Christmas mugs, normally £10 each, I got them for 2.50 each. Always wanted some.
The BHF had had a corporate donation of real techniques brush sets that usually retail at 15.00. I picked up a pack for £5. They did ask me if they were an expensive brush as 6 packs had been sold last week (I’m in Wales), basically very popular. Also a brand new, still sealed Italian soap set for 2.99, Heathcote &Ivory handcream set for 2.99 and a M+S jumper for 3.99. It was a good day today
Also picked up a couple of brand new soap and glory sets last week ready for birthdays as I would rather try and buy from the CSDecluttering challenge 2023🏅⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I also had a very good day and, as well, saw lots of things that were both nice and affordable but weren't quite to my taste. I'm slightly miffed that the lovely donors of the two seat high backed dual recliner sofa didn't have the sense to choose an upholstery fabric that feels pleasant to sit on but am reminding myself that the rough scratchiness is presumably why the sofa has been donated in such good condition.
Fascinating to hear what others pounced on, I've really missed reading everybody else's posts. Lovely bargain Miró, as to outfit I am stumped given the weather, do you yet own a "teddy bear coat" ? I've seen several being worn successfully by tall women in very attractive colours, might this suit you too?
I snapped up an Oxford Classics edition of Mrs Beeton, £1.50, which promises much in the blurb and includes a social and cultural historical commentary. Then I pounced on a copy of Delia's Christmas (for obvious reasons), £3, and Good Housekeeping's Family Meals for a Fiver, £2.50, both hardback copies that seem entirely unused.
I also found Gerald Durrell's The Ark's Anniversary, £2.50, in hardback and Le Cordon Bleu's Desserts, £4.95 which includes step-by-step techniques all with photos. Should you wish to make a coconut milk sauce or yeasted fritters, say, apply here; I can't do it myself but can tell you how!
Last of all, I popped into Age UK as I was passing and found a 0.7l stainless steel wide necked soup flask with all its bits for £2.99, hoorah.
Lovely to get a bit of normality back and hope all those who've yet to comment have had good luck too, goldfinches."She could squeeze a nickel until the buffalo pooped."

Hope everyone else who ventured out had a good day and came home with some nice finds......Never, ever say that, Miro.I'm (I think) older than you but I have a fab collection of DMs, including some dating back 30+ years. 16 pairs of boots and 4 pairs of sandals. (gulp)I quite like the newer style Chelsea boots. Not sure if it's your thing but I wear them with thick tights and shortish skirts or shortish dresses as well as leggings & skinny jeans.I have a pair of fabric DM desert boots that I have worn with a Next summer linen dress with the same colours.
