Thanks for the nudge DFV.
The Brain Tumour Research Charity Shop (BTRS) that I go to is in Headingley, Leeds. (31, Otley Rd, Headingley, Leeds, LS6 3AA). I believe it is a Yorkshire based charity. Hope this helps x
I'm in Bradford and as I said my cycle club is supporting this charity this year. I did wonder where the shop was you mentioned. I've often driven up there when I have been to the Clothes Exchange but have never visited the shops.@Apintplease - it is always worth looking for jeans in chazzers. I usually find them in new / barely used condition for £2-3 and snap them up when they are in my size. They are just so handy (and hardy) for walking, I use them to death and then rag them.Yesterday was a difficult day at work. Was pleased to finish at 4.15pm and made a dash for the last chazzer that actually closes at 5pm rather than an hour earlier for COVID reasons. Picked up 4 books, a CD and a BN sealed box that I shall use for storing my meds for £1.50. Spotted a shawl for £2 on the way out so bought that too. Plenty of treats to soothe my troubled mind for the same price as a large coffee out.No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.6 -
hope your mind is better today x
i got x6 cups with saucers woodsware yesterday in the dr b shop for £3 really pleased with them as wanted some for ages now in pride ofplace on the dresseronwards and upwards5 -
I just went to a £1 chazzer. I think that will be the last time I go in a while as I'm getting worried again about travelling on public transport. I have my flu jab next week but that will be all for a while.
I got a knitted vest, a white cardigan and a white top as I'm going to buy some purple dye to dye them into a more interesting colour.
I also found a lovely size 14 purple coat. Not bad for £4!6 -
Went for a walk today just to placate my fitness tracker that kept telling me to move more! Ahem....came home with:-
A Wallis pure linen shirt in a pale lavender shade with self coloured stitching on the front with tiny pieces of what look like Abalone shell caught in the stitching. BNWT & original price £33, chazza price £4.95 from the BHF shop. From the community shop - a pair of Egyptian cotton, cream pillow cases b/n in wrapper £1.75. From the RSPCA shop a pair of hardly worn Pavers ballet flats in a denim blue distressed effect leather with a small pearl decoration on the front £6.50. Then from the big Sue Ryder shop...they were selling all summer dresses off at £1, I picked up a pure linen Préciis sundress that I have had my eye on for a while, (was priced at £7.50). It's two sizes too big and petite fitting but I loved the orange/black/white & burgundy pattern so will either re-fit it or turn it into a skirt.. Then finally, and my best buy, back to the community shop where I had seen a footrest thingumidoo for under a desk or table when working. My cheapo one has cracked and this one is much better being more robust and adjustable in height and angle. Found it on the Office Depot website selling at £24.99 - I paid £2 and it's in perfect condition.
And my nagging fitness tracker informs that I have done 14,025 steps now today6 -

Unfortunately when I got it home I found the internal battery had leaked and corroded everything. When I wired it up temporarily it fizzled and smoked, so I'll be taking it back.
Shame as they're about £100 new.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.7 -
Living my charity shopping fix through you all - seems to be some lovely bargains being had. No planned outings for me for a few days so really loving the thread.

Made a mistake yesterday. Picked up what I thought was a travel sized hairdryer for £3, only to find when I looked closer that it is actually a craft thing for drying, I dunno, paint etc. I suppose. It has a "do not use as a hairdryer" little logo on the side, I didn't spot that in the shop! They are about £20+ online though and my friend who does art is happy to take it off my hands 😊. Also got a brand new still in box priced £16 towel ring (well it's not a full ring, the bottom of the loop is straight across) for £3, which will be perfect for hanging my oven glove on.
Today I had half an hour between trains so popped into the Salvation Army shop and found a brand new Regatta casual shirt for OH, and a striped H&M teeshirt also for OH, both on the £1 rail. Then in the 50p rummage box I found a fidget spinner, new still in original packaging, for 50p (obviously 🙄) and a bottle opener with a can piercer, also 50p. I have wanted to get OH a fidget spinner since they came out as he is a terrible fidgeter, but I wasn't going to pay £3-£5 for one.
Used to be Bogof_Babe. It did need updating!5 -
First time back out cs . Picked up a lovely purple light shade £3 for the spare room. A rug for the living roo. £10 . Two pairs of shorts that I now need to return and a pair of lazy trousers to wear around the house.
Will have another look possible tomorrow1 /10 nsd 😀7 -
Went back to the BHF shop today as it was pouring here so thought that some time spent indoors would be nice.
I managed to offload some items I decluttered from the top shelf of the wardrobe this morning which was lucky as I had forgotten that I should have made an appointment 🙄. I do try not to forget my own head but some days are more challenging than others!
I was beguiled by the bookshelves and bought American Bar by Charles Schumann (£3). It has some wonderful recipes in it; could you fancy a Bee's Kiss - 3/4 oz cream, 2 barspoons honey, 1 oz white rum and 1/4 oz dark rum? Sounds yummy doesn't it and I'm thinking of adapting some of these into luxurious puddings for special occasions. Bee's Kiss might make a lovely bread and butter pudding or a rice pud or even a steamed treacle sponge with flavoured custard.
I then spied The Faber Book of Aphorisms edited by W.H. Auden and Louis Kronenberger ( £2.50) and finally 500 Fabulous Cakes and Bakes (£3.50) couldn't be passed by.
So today's rain has cost me £9 but already given me reading pleasure with more to come, does that count as a bargain?"She could squeeze a nickel until the buffalo pooped."
