Pollycat said:I've broken my charity shop post-lockdown duck and actually bought something. It's a Cath Kidston fabric bag in a denim blue with pink birds & pink flowers on, a beige strap and brown leather fixings/trim.I like to wash things I've bought from the charity shop, either on a silk/delicate was or hand wash. The label says:100% teflon coated cotton (excluding trim)100% cotton liningLeather trimsSpot clean with a damp cloth. What would you do?6

A quick gallop round the local charity shops this morning just in case Boris the Buffoon decided to put us all in total lockdown again! Not a single queue for any of them either which was nice. (Long queue's again for Aldi and Sainsbury's tho!!) Came home with a BNWT La Redoute crocheted cream bag with leather tassels and strap, 95p from the Brain Tumour charity shop. Then, in the Community chazza I found the (almost) perfect necklace I have been searching for...£1. Finally in the Martin House Hospice chazza, perhaps my best buy, a pair of b/n Hotter, MaryJane stylee shoes in a dark sea green shade of leather snd priced at only £4!! The reason for the low price was that the donor had cut off the braid straps going over the top of the foot. A bit of unpicking and trimming with a craft knife removed all remaining vestiges of the braid and they are sooooo comfy.6

Much intrigued by a Brain Tumour shop - yes I know cs but my imagination has so much more fun. A really stonking likely Laura Ashley commercial fittings mirror?! Wow (how did you get that home?! Sounds heavy as well as gorgeous!)
You've mopped up the gore from eviscerated Hotters? Hurrah! Expensive comfort, now in unique Miro style!
Am observing Boris bounce Bakeoff - doubt he dare lock us down yet, but probably before Christmas. Ah well. Assorted festive & New-Year-resolute fabrics for masks & my relatives can survive without the Dig tribe coming visiting...5 -
May I ask please how much of your CS bargains do you actually wear. I work in a CS and always go in early to bag any bargains on that day. I rarely (never) come away empty handed but I am not as discriminating as I would be with department store buys because it's cheap. After a wash and several days (weeks) hanging in the wardrobe I sometimes can't think why I bought said article in the first place except for the fact it was a good make and fits. It then gets donated back and I hate to think how much money has been wasted over the years. I do keep some things that have become firm favourites but they are in the minority. I do wonder if CS shopping actually saves me money. What do you think?

Even when buying work clothes for the OH - jeans and hoodies - they have to be of a style and brand that he would wear if buying new

Thanks for replying Apintplease. That's where I obviously go wrong I grab it just because it's a bargain. Unfortunately I do much the same with clothes sales. Must give it more thought. All that clutter used to be money5

Certain things I wear to death around the house, usually jeans and blouses / jumpers. This year my formal workwear has hardly had an outing. This buying in quantity perhaps reflects your age. I still have plenty of items I bought over over 20 years ago, they have been classic items that don't doubt. No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.3 -
RD I also have clothes that have been favourites for years but they are not the problem. I buy bargains that I like but that don't quite fit in with the rest of the clothes I have. Orphans I think is what explains it best. BTW I am very old but still fairly trendy. LolAll that clutter used to be money5

I went to a couple of chazzers today as I thought about lockdown too. I got a lovely Dotty P little black dress for only £2 as they were having a sale.
I got three cardigans and a top from another shop.
I might go back tomorrow to look for jumpers. I have too many navy ones and I want more colour.5 -
@Sayschezza I love that, "orphans" 😁 I have recently purged several orphan items as they have no partners.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇
