I think St Gemma's is fairly new...it's quite big and spacious and close to the Arena, (was it The Eagles you went to see?)

    Yes, the Eagles.
Or at least 3 of the originals.
Or only one if you go right back to the beginning.
  • A very nearly unused nursery set of egg cup, mug and cereal bowl in Denby Safari for 50p this morning and a baby grow bag reduced to half price for £1 which is a lightweight cotton one for the warmer weather so will be useful for the Grandpickle arriving in September.

Awww, that is Seriously Cute, MrsLW, excellent spot for the lucky pickle!
Growbags are new to me but I have heard nothing but cries of joy in relation to them.

    That's a great bargain. :T
    I love that design.
If it survives intact  might be worth checking prices on eBay.
Or check prices now and buy a TommyTippee melamine set. :D

I bought a Denny plate, bowl and mug for my niece and nephew's christening.
They were doing a bespoke decoration service at the time (19 and 14 years ago).
You could choose a design and also the colour of the edging and they put the name and date on it.
We have a number of pieces decorated by 'Lyn' - vases, jugs and planters mainly.
Local Oxfam has a range of new Greenwich - divided serving dish, salt & pepper, covered sugar bowl, large and small jugs, pasta bowls, cups/saucers. Nothing that I haven't already got.
We use our pasta bowls a lot.
  • There is a plate on eBay in that pattern for £15 eeeeek!

What did I tell you? ;)
Will Grandpickle appreciate a vintage Denby set or might the money be better in his/her savings account?
    Hmmmm.
  • I think she'll be far better off with a savings account but if it's likely to appreciate in value we might be better off buying the plate.....Oh for a farseer to see the future of Denby!

I may be wrong but I think DFV would advise against paying £15 for a plate.
During the same period they did a design called 'Dreamweaver'. That is lovely too.
  • I've not come across that one but things surface in the Charity shop on a regular basis that I haven't come across before which is what makes it so very interesting unpacking the donations we get in!

Like so many lovely things, the value is in the joy they bring us. A relatively hard to kill weaning set & years of happy memories are worth far more than any eBay price & anyway, start with the enjoying & eBay later? You have have acquired a Family Heirloom in waiting!

My Acquisition Committee couldn’t buy off eBay at that price but you found it for less in the charity shop lucky enough to have you - I’d say you’re Meant to have it!
