As I rarely find clothing that fits or suits me I am happy to share my allowance / ration with anybody who wants it .......argh!.... Trampled!😂
I was in Leamington Spa yesterday and came away with a solitary t-shirt for dgs - £2 but it was a Gruffalo design. I think my local charity shop, for a local cause, at home in South Wales has spoiled me. 😯I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
I bought a linen blend Next summer dress from Barnados for £3.00.
Got it home and found the same dress still with the tag on in my wardrobe.
:rotfl: Silly Billy!
(Done that myself too!)
Just read, on The Book of Faces, that my local community centre is having a 'Clothes Exchange' on Sunday. Not heard of this before. Free entry and for each garment you donate you get to chose another to take home. Wondering if it is worth a look? Anyone been to one?0 -

I'd say it was definitely worth a wander in to see if there's anything that takes your fancy.
Let us know how it goes.0 -

Indeed!
That said, if you can figure how to get the chazzer fairy to show you things that actually you might look stunning in, my husband would be delighted, He'd quite like to look in the wardrobe & find clothes I haven't nicked...

This afty I purchased an M & S cashmere cardi in bubblegum pink, (Mind chazza £4.50*), shorty length with 3/4 sleeves with cuffs and rather darling little mother-of-pearl buttons. Do you think, perchance he would look rather fetching in that???:D
*Just found it selling for £30 on a cashmere resale site

Miro - that is a good find, is it free of the dreaded moth holes too? I would defintely go to the clothing swap, it's such a fab idea.
Pollycat - I've got so many clothes I can't honestly remember what I have, I would love to have a capsule wardrobe on the one hand but on the other I would be freaking out at having a capusle wardrobe.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

I’m back from a trip to Nettlebed in the rain (I thought that would put other people off, but it was still very busy). I didn’t buy much this time, but found several things which have been on my list for a while so am very pleased).
A couple of books @ 50p each - a Yotam Ottolenghi one, and a Relais & Chateau one with a variety of Michelin-star recipes.
A new wok - a German make which I don’t recognise but it is in perfect condition, large, heavy and nonstick, exactly what I have been looking for. £2
A large oval Falconware white enamel roasting dish and lid £2) and a new, sealed Lakeland lunch box (50p)
A number of things from the bric-a-brac stall : a new, sealed Ikea rubber bath mat (50p), a Dri-box (for keeping multiple outdoor electrical sockets dry) (£1), a battery operated pet water fountain thing (£1), a decorative tin which previously held Amaretti biscuits (30p) which is for younger daughter to store her Nespresso pods in, a set of rods and balls which you fit together to make a fruit cage (£2) and a selection of very good quality hand woodworking tools for Mr C J (£2).0 -
Three lovely finds this past week, all while looking for something else!
Summer skirt £3.25, set of three small silver swan ornaments £4, and a whole £1 for a nice dress.0 -
Oh dear - I DEFINITELY need to go to CS rehab. Despite my promise I wouldn't look anywhere when donating today and in between having a hair cut and holiday prep I visited five CS shops! But I can't stop when I keep coming across such great bargains! Today:
- A Marc Cain jumper. Having never heard of this brand I now keep finding it everywhere. It's actually a very light spring/summer sweater - in pale blue and pale pink stripes with a very slight sparkle to them. 43% cotton, 40% viscose, 10% polyester and 7% cashmere. Looks unworn. Says 'is not machine washable' - so not sure whether to ignore this or not. I'll probably put on a delicate wash like the jacket last week - I'm not going to dry clean it. £3.75, Isabel Hospice.
- A Whistles jumper! So so happy with this. Again a light jumper for spring/summer, in pale pink, black and grey. £6.99, so the top end of what I would be prepared to pay. 100% cotton and says hand wash. Eek! A theme here. But I think a delicate machine wash will have to do. From Age UK.
- A Betty Barclays 'elements' top. Again looks unworn. Long sleeved t-shirt material, blue and white stripes on the back and sleeves and a complicated slightly Indian inspired pattern in blue and red on the front. Looks unworn. £4.99, Age UK. No washing instructions on this one, and am sure will be fine on a normal wash.
Lots of other good stuff out there - even the slightly less affluent town I visited today had some good stuff. The BHF store there had a nice brand new All Saints cream top, but wanted £20 for it. A tenner and I would have gone for it. I fell in love with a grey military-style Next jacket in one CS - I think I might regret not buying it. Far too warm for now and I have bought so many jackets recently. Sigh.
Interestingly the Age UK used to have a changing room but they have got rid of it in favour of more stock. Slightly disappointing as I would rather try things on first. When I asked at the desk they did say if you keep the receipt they have a 28-day return policy, which I have not heard of before in a CS. Makes sense though if there isn't anywhere to try things on.
Tons of good Next and M&S out there today mixed in with Papaya/Primark/Tu.
There really is no hope for me! Good to read about everyone else's successful hunts this week. M100.0
