Jumble sales are special arts of mercy - pop up charity shops with really unusual sources. And pricing methods that make raffles look coherent.
Says she with form for handbrake turns when I see the signs out.
If you ever do find a cs rehab centre, I think my family would pay relatively serious money for the jumble sale "cure".
But then, they never found a Bialetti coffee pot just like my parents used every morning but in "my size" (I was just able to see over the tables then, so one cup espresso) for 20 pence with everything there & perfect. (My father gawked, as just the gasket would have cost ten times that, then, but it was all there. To impress my farther was a major achievement, so I took a major shine to jumble sales from there on.)
Last one, I picked up a couple of summer frocks & two shirts, patchwork & shopping bags for the use of. Again the menfolk were slightly freaked as I don't wear that sort of flimsy garment (since I was old enough to say flatly "won't") & they were not taken at all with the shirts, but I just wanted the patterns for patching...0 -

If I fail to find a cure and the day comes when I can no longer see the floor or find my way to the sofa and someone puts me forward for one of those 'sorting out a hoarder's house' TV progs I shall just say DFV says I'm doing a sterling service to the economy and the environment...so pffft!'
Haven't made it to Colne for the Whisper teapot yet, (probably gone now)....hey, isn't there a Boundary Mills there? (Slaps wrist for thinking about proper shopping). Orft to Bedale for a long week-end now....some car booties round that way, Minskip, Ripon...hmmmm. Sheesh no hope for me I reckon!!!0 -
50p for a recently published patchwork magazine complete with a free gift set of heavy duty 'flying geese' templates still attached. I love a good triangle templateI can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0

Total about £69 published price, all pretty much in new or 'read once' condition, £1 for 4, Red Cross.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
I paid £2.99 for some Peter Storm lightweight shorts for OH last week. Got them home and even with moving the button they are too tight for him. They were going to be re-donated, but one of his mates came round this morning and said he would try them - perfect fit apparently
.
Meanwhile in the scruffy rummage chazzer in town (it's a local charity not part of a chain) they had a box of mens shorts for 50p each. Found a pair that I know will fit OH, in a different heavier fabric but fine for his walking trips. As a bonus there was a Primark polo shirt on the 50p rail, looks in decent condition, so got him a summer outfit for £1.
My own new outfit cost a whole £1.50. Sky blue M&S teeshirt for 50p and pair of light grey cotton trousers for a whole £1. Holidays here we come :T .I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

Only one purchase for me today (went to pick up loafers from the cobblers), but it was quite a lovely one.
I got this shirt for £2 in the St Francis Hospice shop. https://www.johnlewis.com/jigsaw-linear-square-silk-blouse-navy/p3003592 I'm pretty happy0 -
Miro, if you don't call & ask, you'll never know...
luxor4t - Ah, Flying Geese... A good template is a serious joy, says she happily in possession of her grandmother's squares & octagons.
Owain - crooning happily over vintage jaguars just with my imagination
Bogof_Babe - love the idea of a 'scruffy rummage chazzer' - Accrington had one but decided it could up its game & its image without loosing trade - dead right but gosh the opportunities.
Laredouter - blimey well done!
Not sure if car boots count?
Husband's hunt paid off mondo for youngest doing Art - high end 'introductory' oil painting set £5 plus book 50p (the two brushes alone worth £7 plus the paints over £50, plus the palette & the board & so on) plus a bag of letraset markers that new are £1.50 each & himself got for 20 pence each.
Two denby 'regional' mugs for me, £1 each. Himself found a little Lovatts splay topped jug (I must take up flower arranging) for 50 pence. The two pairs of trousers in son sizes a pound a pair - one of Umbro £18, detagged but not worn & another which may be ebayed being goretex in DPM but our occasional fisher may decide he can cope with that.
Thank heaven the supermarket had resupplied on the boxes I store Denby in, eh?0 -

I think I`m going to have to come and live with you! I loved the bit at the end when JL say they are unlikely to get more stock of this item!0 -
Another happy day of hunting yesterday, this time with a friend in tow.
Scope: A Hollister t-shirt for holiday for £3 - white slub cotton with neon yellow thin stripes. Marked as 'XS', but as I go by eye these days I ignored that as I was sure it would fit and indeed it did. Excellent condition.
A cover-up style cropped t-shirt with 3/4 length sleeves. This is in lightweight material (but manmade fibres, I'm sure), perfect for the beach. No label, but says made in China - suspect it is a cheapy internet-order job but I loved the colour (white, peach, grey navy) and pattern (geometric) and cut. This was labelled as 'XL' - no wonder we are all so confused by sizing! This was also £3.
A black lacey jacket - size 12, Lipsy. This is amazing. Lace cut-out flower pattern, nicely cut and fitted, perfect for a cool summer evening. £4! Very pleased with this.
Sue Ryder: a cropped jumpsuit in black with cream and red stripes. I thought this was probably a cheap-ish internet brand and research at home suggests ASOS. For holiday evening-wear, £4.95.
Oxfam: A yellow-cream lightweight 3/4 length summer jacket, beautifully cut. I picked this off the rail because my gut instinct told me it might be special and to hang on tight to it while I finished my rifle through the rest of the racks. As soon as I tried it on I had to have it. It's been quite well-worn and loved, but it is so well-cut and I thought it was probably a decent brand. The label said 'Claudia Strater', which I had never heard of. Research shows this is a Dutch brand (I am so intrigued as to how these brands make their way to my charity shops - last week the German-brand cardigan, this week Dutch... perhaps they are sold on somewhere like TKMaxx) and not cheap! Anyway. Jacket is 45% silk, 55% linen. This year's linen blazers on their website sell for 229 euros. It was £5.95 and this afternoon I have put it on a delicate wash - I hope I won't regret this decision, but it was a bit grubby and although the label says dry clean only I am going to risk it. I'll report back! I so hope this was the right decision...
ECCO: all their clothes were £1 this weekend. Interestingly, I think the two things here were my worst buying decisions - because it is so hard to NOT buy something when it is £1. We will see with both my purchases - I will re-donate if they don't work out. They were:
A pale blue blouse by Alexon. Lightweight polyester, with a nice neckline. I worry it looks a bit like a set of hospital scrubs (is pale blue!) but it looks unworn and if I wear with smart jeans to work I think it might work out.
Some dark green River Island trousers. Size 14, BNWT. Definitely not summer-wear, and I am a bit dubious. But I will try on with the tags on and if I hate them they will get re-donated. Am just not sure as they might be a bit young for me, but they might be amazing! RRP £30, but sold to me for £1.
My friend also had a happy day, making 8 purchases. Highlights were shirts from Seasalt and Gant.
Hope everyone had satisfying hunts this weekend. I am off on holiday soon and am going to try not to charity shop now for a month, as I have all I could need. But I do need to do some donating, so getting in and out without looking will be a struggle!

I popped into my favourite little boho town yesterday and we got two bags full of stuff.

White Fat Face tshirt for DH, lovely thick cotton which FF always do, plain apart from contrast stitching and a discreet logo - £1. A BNIB poker set with 5 die, 2 packs of cards, chips, pen, score book and instruction book, £5. A navy blue and pink striped Crew Clothing sweatshirt, 1/4 zip, kangaroo pocket £2, a White Stuff wool dress with lovely design in the knit, 3/4 sleeves £3. A BNWT M&S vintage style blouse in Oxfam £4.49, £25 on the price tag. A New Look button through black dress with large floral print and self belt for DD, £2.50.
