It's got princess seaming which I think is a flattering style.
I do love a princess seam - much more flattering than darts even if more ticklish to sew & fit properly.
Had a discussion with husband about Kilner jars - he's a wild fan of the Ravenhead Kilner (bright orange plastic strap) whereas I prefer the ones my grandmothers might have used (in all three widths of mouth located to date, ahem) & "to prove" his point, we excavated all the Kilner dumped in one corner of the kitchen. He went a bit quiet. He's been getting the two pint jars (& larger) at about 50 pence a time and only on making jam with me (poor excitement-starved child, he never made jam with his mum as a wean) did he realise this is the right jar for Glutney but rather less so for the more usual limited home production runs (sis makes 3 jars at a time in her microwave...) Mind, we also uncovered my collection of bottles - I need to get distilling.
Been sent a text. He's found not just a Denby tea set (pot, cups & sauces, milk jug & sugar bowl) But Also Plates in 3 sizes (the single word text reply was YES!). I am now trying to figure what pattern by the overhead snap. Colour always ticklish but looks greeny brown with near duck egg blue insides (so presume vicious fluorescent light). Post 1997 I think, somewhat dumpy teapot shape with strap handle & slab then smooth spout. I'll bet the teapotlid would help but of course it is inverted for the photo... Might be Greystone but the jug lip is broader.0 -
Apologies if this turns out to be a bit lengthy.....need to offload!!
Went to my fave community shop first thing this morning to find an armed robbery taking place at the next door post office. People running about all over the place, police/police cars/helicopter....2 men with knives seen running away, roads closed etc. Bit of a shocker! I skidaddled over the road to Waitrose and and had a coffee in the cafe as it seemed a safer option til things calmed down.
Anyhoo, eventually the P.O. was taped off with a police guard on the door and a heavy police presence so then the rest of the shops carried on trading so, with my brave girl pants on, I ventured back to the next door community shop. My reason for the early morning visit was that yesterday I spotted a dress and had talked myself out of it - then couldn't stop thinking about it overnight....hence my swift return. HOORAY!! It was still there! Had been 'watching' it for a couple of weeks hoping it would be reduced to half price then when it was I chickened out. It's a BNWT bottle green eveningy/smart fitted dress with an asymmetrical fluted frill over one shoulder. Sleeveless, high scoopy neck and knee length. It's a Zara Basic but quite grown up in style and has a price tag of £49.99 still attached. Had been priced in the charity shop at £10 but yesterday was reduced to £5.
Wot a world we live in now?!
Dunno if this link will work but this is the dress.

Hope is not a strategy...A child is for life, not just 18 years....Don't get me started on the NHS, because you won't win...I love chaz-ing!

Oh dear Miro, how scary. I think I would have gone straight home!
Haven't bought anything for ages, as I really have enough "stuff" to see me out now. However I have been looking out for a dressing gown for OH, I even nearly bought one for £15 in Tesco's sale, and would have except I was having a minor cashflow crisis at the time.
Today I had an hour to kill between trains in Wigan, and the YMCA everything £1 shop came up trumps. I only go into chazzers now if there's something specific I'm hoping to find. There was nothing on the men's rails, but on my way to the door I spotted a rail of nightwear, mostly women's, with a gorgeous shade of navy blue long fleecy dressing gown at the end on a size 12 hanger. On closer inspection it was obviously much bigger than a 12, and was probably a men's large or ex-large - all the labels had been cut out. It looked like new, still had the waist tie-cord, and no creases from being worn.
So for £1 and a quick whizz through the washing machine he is now all kitted out for flopping in front of the TV after a bath :T .I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

Today: Tip Re-use shop this has got to be the only chazzer for me the others are just too expensive.
I could not believe it:
Really good condition Seasalt dress 50p. They don't really do clothes so don't know how to price them. I am really cross with myself for not rummaging around more. Who knows what I could have found in the past. I have always just dismissed the clothes as tat in there.
Very Happy, this is the bargain of the year so far.0 -

Our tip shop is expensive, they had a teapot in there, quite big but nothing special and they wanted £4 for it, also they had some Next stacking mugs, 6 mugs in a holder £6, I saw them a day later in an expensive hospice shop and they only wanted £3. I've had a couple of bits but most of it is very, very overpriced.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Seasalt cotton dress blue with a pattern of birds £5.50
Mulberry dress in grey sweatshirt material with plastic stars sewn on the front £4.50
White Stuff navy long sleeved top £3
A scarf in dark teal with a herringbone weave which goes perfectly with a dark teal herringbone weave White Stuff dress I bought recently and love £1 (the scarf not the dress)
A silver ring £3.50
A pair of BNWT Nike running tights which were exactly what I have been looking for for £5.99 (original shop price was £37.99!!!)

An afternoon of cs’s and coffee out saw me get an unused large cath kidston mug for £1.99 and a vintage st.michael pinafore type dress for £2. It’s the sort of dress she can wear with a polo neck sweater tights and boots or on its own in warmer weather. I’d guess it dates from late 70s (if they had st. Michael as a brand then) but apparently “totally with goes with her aesthetic” I have got to say she’s nearly 25 and earns more than I do yet loves a cs bargain. We also got dd age 15 toy story 3 on DVD for £1 as apparently you are never too old for a Disney dvd.
Dd number 2 and I have just gone through a few of my bedroom drawers and we’ve got a pile of stuff for eBay and a big bag for the cs
So I’m trying to donate as well as buy0
