Today I had a feeling that I would find some Emma bridgewater in the cs. (This is my holy grail and seldom found) I went in 3 local cs’s and did indeed find some Emma but only of the cosmetic shower gel type nevertheless I popped it in my bag for £2.95 and then I spied a lovely like new white stuff wrap dress not cheap at £9.50 but I was very happy with it

Husband is currently a little downhearted. Son griped his trainers were getting tight so I hauled him to the supermarket (always useful to bring your own muscle) & then resupplied trainers.

Next day, repeated complaint, this time about boots worn to school.

Stereo from parents "why didn't you say?!" & Himself went on the hunt for the combat boots he'd seen but hadn't bought, thinking they were too big.

After the full day hiking along the usual route checking for the boots, he found them, & being a warmhearted soul, added a pair of brand new woolly insoles.
Triumphant, he presented them to son who then admitted that he'd found a larger pair in his wardrobe, left there by the lad some months ago in anticipation.

Son was made to try on the new boots his father had spent all day hunting - to find they are at least one whole size too big. Son apologetic, father tired & peeved & in consequence the next pair of boots still have the insoles (unmodified for size) sticking out like daffodils.

It will all be worthwhile, but Oh my.
Plus, despite all those shops he didn't find a chip of Denby!
  • they are at least one whole size too big.

At least he can grow into them.

    Eventually.

    Or in about three months.

Is this the cheapest way to stock up on clothes?

How do people get free clothes, is there a way?

    Thanks both.

Yes, I have thought of that but it would technically be stealing. I am sure you could get prosecuted for that.

Yes, I have thought of that but it would mean putting my name out in the community.

My best idea was to get a job in River Island or other where they get a clothing allowance but that would mean having to be employed but I am a carer for my Autistic son.

I don't need any of course. I am just wondering if it can be done. I am obsessed with getting things for free or next to nothing. If that makes sense.

    Whoosh!
That comment was (almost certainly) tongue-in-cheek.

Working in a shop will give you a staff discount but you should ask yourself if you would buy the clothes from the shop in the first place.
They certainly won't be free - which is what you asked about.

I'm not sure if Freecycle will give you free clothes.
If you have an issue with 'putting your name out in the community', I'm not sure how they that would work.

Register on your local Freecycle and make a request, giving your size etc. Keep trying and I am sure you will be offered some.
