I agree with all you say Dark Star, I wouldn’t buy anything that looked at all battered or scruffy, I once had a work colleague who always gave you smellies that you could see had been doing the rounds at the charity shop or church fete, if I gave things like this I would take them out of the package and put them into a Christmas parcel with other things
But you can get some very good adult and children’s books that have never even been opened, see my post from Friday.0 -
Oh dear,
Today I paid£7.50 for a Jaegar tunic dress with nice sleeves and buttons at the cuffs , with a funnel neck in what I thought was black.
Once home, it tutors out to be very dark chocolate brown.
I hate brown.but this is so dark I may wear it anyhow or maybe dye it? But it's 30% wool and 60 viscose 10% elanstane. so not sure if that's a good plan?Norn Iron Club member 4730 -

Do you have brown shoes/boots?
If you wear black, it may show the dress to be brown IYSWIM.
I'm a bit anal about colours but it might not bother you.
Google Dylon.
They have a great 'what can I dye?' section on their website.
Apparently, viscose is a man-made fabric using natural fabric so it dyes as well as natural fabrics.
The greater proportion of natural fabric, the better the dye takes.

Haha! Yes , mine was bottle green, I don't like that either.
Wearing brown makes me feel depressed , it's weird because black does not!
However this is really dark, I might convince myself to call it something else and wear it anyway.Norn Iron Club member 4730 -

Aw, yes it may have been a mistake, a combination of my eyesight and the shop lighting.
It's very cosy side to the wool content , is a nice style on me, I'll replace the
Three small round brown buttons on each sleeve with something to my taste and IT HAS POCKETS! So actually I'm not feeling bad about any longer and Marie Curie also benefit.Norn Iron Club member 4730 -
A brand new Regatta Winter weight fleece for £3, just what I needed!
Will now do a search for one for DH.0 -

DigForVictory:
Saw a Manor green teapot without lid for £5.00 in our local hospice shop.
They also had a large (maybe 12" tall) vase in Fern pattern (pale green-white. Denby also did 'Bracken' - brown and 'Moss' - dark green). Despite its size it was only £4.00. But no base stamp so they didn't know it was Denby.
I bought a lovely floral pattern silk scarf for 99p from Oxfam. Might do for Furoshiki but it's looking like it's heading to my wardrobe after a quick wash.0 -
Pollcat, I missed your helpful yesterday.
Yes I have some nice tan suede ankle boots, you may be right about black footwear making it look more brown!
if I dye it I risk doubling the cost to me and possibly not being able to wear it all.
I think I'll wear it as it is, but drop the brown buttons.
If it makes me feel miserable then I will re donate it or dye it.Norn Iron Club member 4730
