Some good bargains!
I got an Oasis top for £3 yesterday - was glad I tried on as there were a couple of others I really liked but they just weren't me. One of them I was unsure of, then as I pulled it off it left black glitter all over my skin so I felt vindicated in not buying it then.
We did miss out on a big bargain though; a Samsung fridge-freezer, priced at £199 but as I was looking up the specs the guy said I could have it for £180. Unfortunately OH was slow getting back to me, and when I went back it'd sold. This made us consider going hunting for one today, but I've found one on eBay that I'm bidding on so we'll hold fire. I'm not sure which local charity shops do and don't carry electrical so it could've been a bit of a wild goose chase.
I did get a Vax carpet cleaner though, for £40. It's a Rapide 2 Guard - I can't work out what the Guard bit means - but they cost about £200 new or £100 used. We know we want to clean the carpets in the new house (won't be replacing them for a while) plus in the flat, and this wasn't much more than hiring one, but without the time restraint hassle.0 -

Went to Huddersfield. Lots of friendly charity shops, and I tottered back with six patterns of Denby, two completely new to me & new "shapes" (Mandarin & Reflections) so while the acquisition committee are still in shock (I did not adhere to the financial guidelines), they are also wondering if I am well as I managed to walk away from a pile of manor green on nothing more than the grounds that I already had those pieces. (It was that or go completely wild and get them and some Luxor and some Jet and the Mandarin. Having hit the cashpoint first & making a tight month-end situation much tighter. If they continue to fuss I may have to explain that.)
Pollycat, I am sorry that smashing top requires height. Says she claiming to be 5'4" but avoiding a tape measure as I've puddled a bit.
Miro yikes dropping glass but o thank heavens both you & the silk were OK (& the cat) - that sounds like a piece that not only grows on you but has developed a personality as well!0 -

Lordy! All those different shaped teapots!
I think I've seen the odd piece of Mandarin but Reflections is a new one on me too.0 -
Went for a nosey round a few shops whilst passing through a market town.
1 Boden tunic dress £1
1 Boden cotton Jacket £1
both in super condition ... very happy with these bargains.0 -

Glad the painting came up well. Any chance of a photo?
Here is the cleaned up, scrubbed up, polished and re-glassed picture.....
...and here is a close up of the pre Fairy bubble bath'd silk showing just how much aged grunge there was. Even the final assemblage didn't go without drama as I tried to cut a new piece of mounting board using a paper cutter/guillotine gadget and shattered the blade. Will be searching the chazza shops for a new cutter now!!DigForVictory wrote: »

Lawks..I've put so much time and effort into this project I almost feel as if I've given birth to it now! My 20p bargain, (+ purchase of new glass and now a new guillotine/cutter thingy) has a lot to answer for1 -
Wonderful painting, Miro - thanks.
I can see how someone would see that on a holiday to Japan and bring it home.0 -
I would.
Miro did. (and hurrah - it looks Wonderful!)
I wonder if the original traveller lost versus glass and had to source a guillotine for the project?!0 -
That's lovely Miro"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"
