It depends on an individual's circumstances. If you can afford to do that, its fine. For me chazzing is a hobby - much of what I find are very welcome wants and not needs. They give me pleasure in the same way that a new lipstick from Poundland would.

For others, shopping at a chazzer is an economic necessity. If you are struggling to provide food, shelter and clothing for your family and can't afford to lose money, that becomes your over-riding concern.

    I do appreciate that.

But if you are in those circumstances, you just need to be aware of what the returns/exchange policy of the particular shop is and if they don't offer refunds and or exchanges, you have to make sure you really want the item before paying for it.

I rarely buy anything from one of the charity shops in my town as they don't have changing rooms - I've been in 3 of these shops in different locations and none have them so it may be their policy.
If I'm paying more than £1.00 I like to try stuff on so even though they offer a full refund if you change your mind, I don't think it's worth the hassle for me.

Having had an interim distribution from my mum's estate recently I've been buying a bit more brand new of late.

Have however gotten several great Halloween things for DS and DD (even if they're being stored for for a few years in some cases) which are all Disney, including an awesome blue velvety wizards gown and hat which is a Disney store exclusive. All items were £3.00 each.

For myself I found a brand new Per Una top with detachable matching vest for underneath, all tags still attached, originally £29.50, I paid £8. Slightly more than I'd like but it's a shade of blue that has always suited me and goes with both white jeans in summer and grey or black ones in winter etc.

You would think so wouldn't you? but when you hear of all the haggling that goes on, especially for marks on clothes (that would probably wash out) never mind the returns policies.

It is for charity after all which is why I have not been too careful.

From now on I am going to make sure all my £££s work hard for me whether for charity or not. Which is why I was questioning the return policies because I have a lot of stuff with labels still on. I am just a clothing junkie.

M'husband bought a thought-to-be Russian nightscope in the local Red Cross shop (yes, You Do Have To Wonder, some days) & they were very clear that if it didn't work they'd give him a credit note. It didn't but they refunded him in cash in full, knowing he'd be back in the coming weeks.

Currently I'm slaving over a work laptop while my phone pings photos of things he wants me to price check or otherwise OK him buying! It's surprisingly restful & efficient & I'm getting charity shop treats...

The week was decidedly lacking in bargains til today. Only splurged a whopping 20p on a cute 'book' of sticky notes on Monday. (Can't resist stationery of any kind!) Then today I called into the hospice shop and found a smashing pair of B/N Clarks black leather ankle boots. Perfect fit and soooo comfy - will be great for trying to achieve my 10,000 steps each day! Price was £10* which is a bit more than I usually pay but I know they will be worth the cost in terms of comfortable cosy feet during the winter. Also found a black M & S straight skirt with a sort of fluted frill round the bottom, (hem!!). That was £2. The hospice has a jumble sale on tomorrow in another part of the complex and with everything priced at £1 or less so I will be returning..... :)

I have two items with a 'watch and wait' order on them at present, (I am currently deeming them to be overpriced so am hoping they will be reduced shortly if they don't sell. One is a pair of M & S ankle-grazer trousers in burgundy, priced at £8.99 in Oxfam, (I saw them in the M & S sale recently for £5.99 but they didn't have my size!!), tho I don't think I have ever seen anything reduced in Oxfam :(. The other is a burgundy skirt - currently priced at £4.50 in the community shop. Fingers X'd.

*Just read the Clarks label stuck on the sole....price was £70 - feel better now!

Today I went to one of the Cancer Research Superstores. Heaven. They are my favourite shop now. Have you tried any of them? It was on a retail park so parking for free. I saw a man with arm full of clothes at the check-out.

    Mantaray dress £3
    Shirt for OH £3
    Cuddly Ford toy £2

So much cheaper than my usual shops. Happy.

I did try one two towns north of me. Nothing took my fancy though, all quite well worn stuff as well :(

I found two more Disney princess costume/dresses today in the local hospice shop for when DD is much older. One is a Rubies licensed one and the other M&S, they are both reversible, Snow White & Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty & Belle, both were £1, so 50p per princess!! Lol

Same shop got me a lovely blue/purple M&S jumper dress, also for £1.

Just back from the hospice jumble sale & totally exhausted....such a lot of pushing and shoving......not exactly a pleasurable experience but did get a few bargains. A navy leather belt with gold bits on it....will dress up a pair of jeans, an M & S jersey skirt in autumnal colours, (still got the £19.50 price tag on) and a b/n M & S black shirt with 3/4 sleeves in a stretchy cotton fabric. Everything today was £1 or less and if you spent £3 or more and handed in the promotional leaflet you got £1 knocked off so the lot cost me £2....very happy:j
