Whilst sat awaiting an X-ray (I fell badly & sprained a wrist), Himself checked the local charity shops & brought me a book of Heath Robinson designs. (Some of which I may try to implement as this wrist splint is a real chore.) 25 pence for a pile of laughs!

Hope your ok Digforvictory and the family are looking after you.

Dr aged 14 complained that dh and I are boring and never do anything fun and just do old people things like going round charity shops so we decided yesterday would be her day and we gave her a variety of options for a day out. She chose a trip to york and a visit to the castle museum so dh and I dutifully involved ourselves in the day including the obligatory purchase for her from h and m and lush. The museum was great and well worth the entry fee.

Anyway on the way home she suggested we call in at a market town with a few charity shops (it was 4.20 by this time) where she managed to find a book she's wanted for ages and I bought her sister a new boxed edition of downton Abbey parlour games which will be making its way into her Xmas stocking. So the moral of the tale is family life really is about give and take.

A pleasant wander around a few charity shops in the lovely sunshine this afty. Came home with just a large plain church candle still in it's wrapper for 50p. Pity I spent £3 on a very similar one in Ikea last week!! :o

DigForVictory - hope the wrist is healing nicely!

    Hi there
A little new to Cs, but love the idea of what be there.
I only really visit one local one as the others are far too pricey (small town with many independent restaurants and cafes). It’d hit and miss but today I picked up two new tops for work (a new look, next) a long cardigan for work (tu) and a lovely dress by Henry Holland all £1 each.

I think the majority of charity shopping will be donations this week having cleared out my dad’s kitchen & my childhood bedroom while I’m staying to help him after an op but I did manage to pick up some Pyrex bowls with lids for £1.50 each (you can never have enough Pyrex IMO!) & a shelf-with-small-drawers thing for our new kitchen for £5 (rrp £25).

Hereford and Ludlow today. All I needed in life was a new jumper and a jam kettle to save having to make jam in multiple saucepans.

RSPCA Hereford (a new one to me, by the library). Large jam kettle, £5!!! What a fool I looked, carrying it back to the car :-D

Cancer Research Ludlow (off the market square). Grey, knit jumper from Oasis £3

    - wow Frith - you only mentioned yesterday about needing a jam kettle and 'Hey Presto!' there it is ;). Well done on spotting that one :T!

I've been using 'just the one' of a pair of hospital 'elbow crutches' for the past 18wks - ever since having my 2nd knee replacement op in June. Was thinking of getting a foldable walking stick but knew I'd need a 'sturdy one' - I'm very tall and 'very well-proportioned' ;). Spotted one yesterday in the CS where I work, but didn't have any money on me. It was still there today when I went back 'on shift', so I bought it immediately £3 :j. Also spotted a beautiful black skirt - from Damart - with beaded 'godets' that is perfect for over Christmas/New Year also for £3 - so I came home a very happy girl :T.

It continues to be a week of small purchases from the charity shops. Today I found a lovely large, square, Monsoon, fine silk scarf - pattern & colours a little like a stained glass window. From the community shop and a whopping 50p :p I spotted a burgundy pencil skirt which matched exactly the coat I was wearing but it was a size too big and would have needed taking in. I don't mind doing alterations if the garment is inexpensive enough to make it worthwhile but it was priced at £3.50 so I am leaving it in the hope that it ends up on the £1 rail next week.

Yesterday from the St Gemma's 99p shop in Otley I got a black V neck sweater by 'Esprit' with long sleeves and slightly longer body than usual. Seems very good quality and will be perfect for winter. Was saddened to find that 2 of the chazzas in Otley have now closed down, (the £1 Mind Clearance shop and the Donkey Sanctuary shop) and the 20p shop is to close shortly. That will only leave six left in the town. :(

miro - it is sad about the Donkey Sanctuary, the little cafe always seemed quite busy and they had some nice things in the shop.

I recently picked up a couple of bits. A Fat Face navy and ecru stripe full zip hoodie, not cheap at £4.50 but I really liked it. A Next tall linen blend blazer in black with lovely black metal buttons £2 and a New Look grey oversized shirt with white polka dots, concealed buttons and little metal buttons on the cuffs - 99p.
