greencastle
don't know if any of you worked over easter but from good friday to easter tuesday the motorway was 3 lines both ways with no cones, then someone put the cones back for the traffic to start again on the weds.
Random!
Supposedly they were carrying out tests of sensors embedded in the road before reverting back to 2 lanes while they finish off the roadworks.
It'll be interesting to see if there's an improvement on the M2 foreshore once this opens properly next week............Norn Iron Club Member No. 252 :beer:0 -
Please tell me the 3 lanes will be open from next week? I heard recently on the radio that it wont be open until Oct/Nov?
The problem doesnt seem to be at Sandyknowles and M2 - it seems to be at the Nelson street offslip - the quicker the cars get down the M2 then more of them will be queued up there.0 -
What is causing the queues at Nelson St, is it a temporary problem or a permenant bottleneck?0

From my experience the problem no longer seems to be at sandyknowles - once you get on to the M2 and head down the hill section etc it's not too bad. Until you get to just past yorkgate on the motorway, its queued way back from the Nelson street offslip. This used to only occur when there was an accident, but now it seems to be a daily occurance.
Perhaps more cars are getting down the hill section quicker, and that the bottleneck has jusr moved forward..
Anyone else notice this - or just me0 -
yipee - never thought it was going to get finishedComp Wins 2011 : Cant wait to start listing everything:j:j:j0

I still want to know where Junction 3 on the M2 is.
There isn't a junction 3 on the M2. Greencastle is junction 2, Sandyknowes is 4. 3 has been reserves for future use, but it'll probably never happen. Bit like the M4, M6 and M7! And several others.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -

Of course that's going to be the problem! It just creates a pile up later on. But never fear, a flyover is planned between the M2 and Westlink.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -

nope - where the westlink ends and the m2 starts is J1, Fortwilliam is J2, Greencastle is J3 and Sandyknowes is J40 -

No no, you need to take a look sometime! J3 definitely doesn't exist! Fortwilliam is J1, and at the end of the M2 is J1b. Sandyknowes is J4 though. J3 is reserved for a connection to the M8 I think, but it'll hardly ever happen.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0
