Does anyone know the schedule for the work being carried out on the M2 between Greencastle and Sandyknowes, the DRD and Roads Service website are pretty vague about it.
From: 02 July 2007 - To: 30 November 2007
M2 MOTORWAY - HILL SECTION - M2 Northbound (Lane 1 closure) between Greencastle and Sandyknowes from Greencastle Interchange, Shore Road On-slip to 500 metres after Hightown Bridge. Traffic will use lanes 2 and 3 on this stretch of the Motorway. This layout will be in place for a period of approximately 4 months. This will be followed by other roadworks at the location which will continue here until spring 2009.
From: 02 July 2007 - To: 30 November 2007
M2 MOTORWAY - HILL SECTION - M2 Motorway Citybound between Sandyknowes and Greencastle. Both lanes will be narrowed towards the central reserve. This layout shall be in place for a period of approximately 4 months. This will be followed by other roadworks at the location which will continue here until spring 2009.
From: 20 August 2007 - To: 20 February 2009
M2 MOTORWAY - VEHICLE WIDTH RESTRICTION - The M2 Motorway Northbound from Greencastle to Sandyknowes shall be restricted to "cars only" in Lane 2 (the lane closest to the central reservation). No vehicles vehicles greater than 6 feet, 6 inches (2 metres) will be able to travel along in this lane.
Does this mean that from 30th November for 15 months there will be a vehicle width restriction northbound and thats it or does "This will be followed by other roadworks at the location which will continue here until spring 2009" incorprate other plans?

There's a long project taking place here including widening the motorway and replacing bridges. I expect there'll be disruption right through next year as they concentrate on different sections of that stretch.
It's a real pain so it better be worth it in the long run! :rolleyes:Norn Iron Club Member No. 252 :beer:0 -
its worth putting up with, there is not too much disruption so far IMO
hopefully widening the M2 to 3 lanes from the sandyknows will help a lot in the morning rush hour trying to get to belfast0 -
i get stuck in this twice a day, tis very annoying0

I've been on there a lot lately as they plan to build a road through my house :eek:0 -
Chaotic at 0930 this morning coming northbound towards Sandyknowes.
Thank crunchie it's Friday and I won't be on the damn thing again until Monday or Tuesday0 -
Seems to be a lot of accidents on the narrower lanes, got stuck in a jam behind someone who was rear-ended last night about 6:30 - fortunately i mustn't have been too far back from the scene so i got past ok but the traffic was building up big time. last week i was held up for about half an hour because of another accident.0

It has been painful this last couple of weeks watching one man and his dog landscaping the motorway - but finally the big announcement, it's to be open next week - weather permitting
Who thinks it will mean the end to
1, congestion at J4
2, queues at J4
3, long queues at J4
4, queues after the next junction
I was never really sure what the difference was between 1, 2 and 3, I have seen them all with short queues and long queues, someone in the control room must pick them at random.
Glad to see light at the end of the tunnel, just hope that there is a significant improvement (although I'm not holding my breath)0 -

I still want to know where Junction 3 on the M2 is.0
