Terribly techy
pvr is a Personal Video Recorder I think, beanie. Can't find it at argos, as I did yesterday, but this is the sort of thing I'm thinking of Buy Manhattan T1 Freeview HD Zapper Box | Freeview boxes and recorders | Argos my sister's just bought a Manhattan brand box, and she's happy with it, 2 year guarantee, seems good. I'll still be mucking about with the signal booster before I do anything, I don't want to buy a gadget if I don't have to, for finance and environmental reasons, but if I *do* have to, this is the one I'd go for.
Fantastic sleep last night, but still tired this morning, so I chickened out of the walk today - if I'm exhausted after a good sleep, its not a great idea to go out. I'll saunter about quietly on my own later, and even emptying the vacuum so I can carry on vaccing the dust is a job, after all. Plus I could disinter the tension rods from the remainder of their packaging and see what's what.
I need time on here first, though 🌞2023: the year I get to buy a car7 -
Little bit of a LBM about bonuses for opening bank accounts, and compensation for poor services - neither are taxable, fortunately for me. Between Sains, Vodafone, and someone else recent (???) that could really have impacted me - my income leans towards the edge of the Personal Allowance because of the income from the French apartment, even though no money has ever been repatriated. That's okay, I'll sleep easier now.2023: the year I get to buy a car5

Re signal boosters, it might be helpful if I tell you what we do.
We use a (pretty old - there's a new one) devolo box here - plug one end in to a 13amp electric socket with the router plugged into the devolo plug, then the other end is in the sitting room at the other end of our long thin cottage (crucially with a double sided brick chimney in the middle of the house, blocking wi-fi) - it needs to be on the same ring main (fuse) - and an ADSL cable runs from the devolo plug in to the freeview recorder box, that in turn is plugged into the TV. If I want to watch Discovery + (our sub for one year) or Disney (DS's sub) we have to plug in a laptop but for standard record it off your receiver it is great and akin to the TV being plugged straight into the router. Laptops and phones run off the wifi part of it but the TV and recorder were not getting a strong enough signal so we use a hard cable to boost them.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Wow, SL, that's quite something! I get the main point about the ring main, the rest has gone a bit blurry for me currently, I'm afraid. When I get to work on it, though, I'll come back to your post, there's a lot of issues there I hadn't considered. Thank you for writing it out in detail, I appreciate that!
My head is currently full of Sains credit cards again - I've been letting it mull without actively thinking about it for the last 10 days, since the last email from them. I've told them I accept they won't increase their offer (boo! hiss!!) and that I'm not taking them to the Ombudsman, they've had enough of my time and energy.
I've also told them I want them to close my account, and I want to know what information they'll keep on me. I couldn't resist being slightly sarcastic at the twists and turns she went through to avoid any further admission of liability (a new definition by her of "clarity" was quite funny). So, it's done, all I need to do now is close the account: I've told them I can't cope with doing that by phone, so I need a postal address, or for her to do it for me, taking my email as permission.
In the meantime, I've found the website where the cartoons of First Dog On The Moon are stashed by the author, and I'm very happy about it2023: the year I get to buy a car6 -
Yesterday needed to be really, really slow, I could feel the fatigue coming for me, so I got out into the fresh air with my sister, and did absolutely nothing else, apart from cook pasta and put the pan in the dishwasher.
Today, a little bit better - and an accomplishment! I've figured out the tension rods (I was *thinking* twist and pull, and it's really just twist, just like the reviews say) and I've put up the Wilko voile curtains I bought a few years ago for the porch, put them up in the living room. I *think* the rod is going to stay there - we'll see how it does, with me swishing the ordinary curtains back and forth in front of it, but that's it, I don't dare do any more today. Well, I'll put the ironing board awaythe voiles are so light that they dried on the line still crumpled, and I wasn't going to have them like that for 5 years or whatever. All good now 🌞

You ironed?! - wow - I'm going to have a little lie down now to recover from the very thought of that!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! I know, it felt weird
to be exact about it, I dabbed - they're so thin, they can't be ironed in the conventional sense. It took about 10 minutes, and that includes faffing about trying to hold them off the floor

I've got a lovely cordless iron. Since I stopped airbnb I imagine it will remain pristine!6

So, the voile curtains are still staying up. There's a little plastic doojimmy to hold up the centre of the pole, so we'll see if they need it. The other window is much wider, and I think that *will* need a central support. Fortunately, there's a rawlplug fitted there, where the venetian blind fitting used to be, and I think I might just screw in a screw and use something decorative tied around the screwhead to help hold up the rod. We'll see! Still nothing doing today, I'm really tired, though the stupid hour forward didn't help2023: the year I get to buy a car5

You could screw in a hook or eye bolt rather than a screw, to which you could attach your decorative swishSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
