sinks are done, I even started on the bath, which is a nightmare all on it's own, as it's showers only in this house, in the semi-dark

Covid and associated deaths came rolling up to my front door tonight: the auntie who upset my mum (they were sisters) has died in a rehab nursing home after weeks in hospital - and it's so long since any doctor saw her, there has to be a coroner's reportIn contrast, my mum was seen twice a week by the doctor, and more than that by the nurses during the 5 weeks she was ill. Same town. Visits and personal care were also affected. I'll respect her privacy, but enough to say, I'm horrified on her behalf. They lost her glasses
I'm glad my own mum never had to go through that.

Sorry KC. That is all of us as a society letting her down (as well as potentially some organisations/individuals closer to her).5

That is very upsetting on many fronts. Hugs.

Thank you all. I'm ok, a little bit haunted, going to ring my brother to tell him in a few minutes, sister is ringing the Norfolk rellies, then she and I will talk again, then sympathy cards. It's the end of an era.
RT - my response to you about the annual travel insurance was very abrupt, sorry about that, I meant that I have no realistic plans to go abroad, so an annual insurance scheme wouldn't really suit me. But I don't have close rellies abroad, just distant ones. YMMV and I think it does!2023: the year I get to buy a car5
