Thanks debtfree!
SL, never too late to chip inthe reason I'm looking for something new is kind of the obsolescence you're describing: the issue isn't the cartridges, it's the communication with my laptop. It has Windows 10, and there's no way to instal the old software that governs my printer, as it has no CD drive. The only new software I can download is whatever comes from the Microsoft Store - unless I invalidate the security systems on the computer, and I don't want to do that. So a new printer it is
Talking to the real live people at the real live shop will help me buy the right one, I'm sure.
I've been titivating the house this morning - sorting cards so I can *use* them, putting plates away, starting to pack my preferred foods for the King Rabbit gig. More of that to come, though right now I'm tempted to do the preliminary admin stuff online for the tax people, it's a bit mindless and I'd be sitting down, and it genuinely needs to be done.2023: the year I get to buy a car4 -

KC - we've had really good luck with our printers - both Epson - the first lasted over 11 years and had to go when we could no longer get even knock-off ink refills for it. We've now replaced it with an eco-Epson with refillable ink tanks - can print by cable, wi-fi and bluetooth - a necessity as my work laptop has had it's bluetooth disabled, which means printer & headphones need to be plugged in! Mind you, especially since the beginning of 2020, we print at least once a day either spreadsheets for work or assorted personal docs - both of us find it easier to work from paper for many things!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! That sounds interesting, RT - is it this sort of thing: Epson EcoTank ET-2811 Three-In-One Wi-Fi Printer with High Capacity Integrated Ink Tank System, Black (johnlewis.com)
The only thing that troubles me is that it lists this "Apple Air Print" business, and "Epson Connect" sounds the same thing. It's more expensive than I was thinking ... but I see that because I haven't bought one for about 8 years, and haven't bothered keeping up with the tech, I've been left way behind again by tech developments. Sigh ... still, it's a bit more knowledge I have now, that I didn't have before - I'll get it done!
Also managed to fill in the admin stuff for the tax return - yes this money, no that money sort of thing. Now I need to check how the French figures adjust to the English tax year.2023: the year I get to buy a car3 -
We have run a cable between the Macbook and the printer as the bluetooth thingy doesn't like the interference of everything else in the house. I was able to find the model and driver on the HP site and get it from there. Maybe consider taking your laptop to the shop and get them to set up the driver on it. It should not need to bypass security, only permit the software to be loaded then resume its protectionSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Oh my! Okay, I'll have a go at that, thanks SL. Nothing in person is going to happen until after the 2nd Christmas, which is mid-January, I'm not missing that for anything, and I don't *think* I'm in desperate need of printing till then.
I've been clearing out my desk, because I'm sorting through cards (everything got in a complete mess when I was trying to find a postcard that would double as a get well card!). Ahem ... when I moved here, it was worth putting by all my copper and silver change to save them up and change them at the bank for pound coinsObviously, that will never happen again, so they're headed onwards to somewhere that collects coins for charity donations (there's about £1.30 - very bulky in copper
). Also some euro coins, which I put in my euro purse: I *will* travel again, I will! But not with the copper coins I've also collected
one and two cents of a euro! That's definitely not going to take up any more desk space!

Our local post office has a foreign notes and coins collection box on the tills - ours is for the air ambulance charity, but I'm sure there are others around. And any charity collection pot anywhere will gladly take the sterling copper coins:) xI am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £205

A few years ago when I last travelled home, I was dismayed to find out that pennies were no longer in circulation! - if using cash, the total was rounded up or down to the nearest 5 cents! The MSE in me balked & I used card wherever possible! LOL - my mother of all people assured me it made no difference in the end, but the very thought of a decimalized system not having 100 cents did my head in!!!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! Wow, RT! Yes - although I can see the logic of it, but its unsettling. Google tells me that currently CA$1 = £0.58 sterling, so a cent is almost like our old penny ... blimey! But I'll bet you that just like during decimalisation in this country, all the prices got rounded up, not down
Greent, I'd be very happy to find a collection box for an Air Ambulance. I'll be heading towards Sainsbo at some stage at the end of January to recycle the frozen veg bags and apparently I can donate the *foreign* coins via the Travel Bureau, and my local Sainsbo has one. I've donated two lots of foreign coins in the past, but those places have closed down. The UK currency, of course, I'll just feed into a donation box outside some charity shop. I'd like to go to the Post Office, but I'm not going into one on the off chance, and the store website doesn't say anything. Ah well. Thanks for posting though, I wouldn't have known about the Travel Bureau thing except for that2023: the year I get to buy a car6 -
I've given up the collection of coins. i used to collect £2 coins and use them for spending money and paying for an event I went to each Christmas but as cash is so rarely used now I found that I didnt get enough. Sent all my foreign coins to the dogs trust in a padded envelope and gave that up too! The copper bits I dropped into a charity bucket. Seems strange but the only person I pay in cash now is my farrier and only because he does a great job and is cheap and I think it is up to him what he does with the cash!Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!3
