Oh - that is a very interesting point KC - I didn't know that there was a particular mask for going on planes - is this for any particular airline?4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! Interesting question, RT - I have no knowledge at all in this area, because I've no intention of flying - the state of airports is enough to put me off. For sister and niece, they're flying to a TUI cruise, which will be a TUI plane, or maybe EasyJet or Monarch, if Monarch's still flying. All the airlines want masks from the sound of it, RT, but it's really complex about what you're supposed to do.
Mask guidelines (easyjet.com) valved not permitted.
Travel restrictions & entry requirements | COVID-19 Travel Hub (easyjet.com) a form that's kept up to date.
Flight info corona measures | TUI fly cloth masks permitted, valved not permitted. Uh, this is a Belgian page, weird. Change every 4 hours, bring enough.
This is an old article about why vented N95 masks aren't allowed Why You Shouldn't Wear an N95 Mask When Traveling (businessinsider.com)
This is Air France, originally in Spanish, in the form of an FAQ, with a linkie to the World Health Organisation about masks WEARING A FACE MASK FOR TRAVEL WITH AIR FRANCE | Air France but the WHO page hasn't been updated since December last year. Still looks interesting though.
To me, it looks as though if you want your own max protection during a journey when you'll be using several forms of travel, you need a bleeping library of different formats of mask. Because I've been keeping my life very low-key, I'd no idea of any of this!2023: the year I get to buy a car2 -
Don't forget you can wear your choice of mask & their choice of mask too. You or they do not just have to wear what they say. When my sister went for her first covid jab they (obviously uninformed) told her she couldn't wear her medically safe mask & she must wear the one they gave her which she immediately recognised as a less effective one. She was not amused as people were not distancing at all. It took her a few minutes to realise that if she wanted to remain safe it was down to her, so she wore both of them. She chose to have her second jab elsewhere unsurprisingly. So I guess the answer is to comply with what they say & do what you are happy with on top.And just to vent a little - I am so sick of seeing people wearing their masks under their noses - I mean why bother unless they are in total sinus lockdown!3

I like your sister's idea of wearing both, thats good! For vaccinations, I've just been wearing 3 layer fabric masks that I wash immediately - they're only used for 5 - 20 minutes, I don't want to use disposables unless I have to.
If I wanted to get on a plane, though, I'd have to wear the mask they wanted me to wear, or risk being turned away at the gate, I've read reports of that happening quite a bit. I'm sure that sometimes people let it slide, but often not. The Good Girl part of me ensures I'll work at getting the "right" one for the right scenario
I was going to buy some at Lloyds Pharmacy, and they offered me £5 off, but wouldn't take the code, so I held off - I'll give them a bell tomorrow. I think there's an admin thing going on, that the money off only applies to certain items. Hey ho.
Renewed my tv licence - £159, grrr. Still, it's done.
DW is ready to put on in the morning, except I burned a panI didn't turn it down but only left enough water in it to simmer. Much scrubbing will be done before that's fit to go into the dw, more grrrr.
🌜 night all.

Re the TV license, how do you think I feel about paying it when this should have been the first year I didn't have to. Also got a nasty letter because I put a terminal date on the direct debit a few years ago when it would have been, if you see what I mean.n Nasty was not required, a gentle reminder would have done. I can't have been the only one to have set it back when it was the case. This last year has started to make me feel like the whole world is trying to wind me up!

Just been looking around at mask certifications and whatnot (last hour). Blimey it's complicated! FFP2 is the EU equivalent of N95 - the 95 is the % protection against the particulates (micron 3) it protects against.
I found these. They are not specifically surgical but as the surgical masks on the NHS supply website (info dated 2018) are primarily splash-protect, I think that is why we say the blue disposable ones are to protect others from you - the point where you cough, splutter or speak, they stop the spatter of droplets. So I think these are OK and half the price of Boots. I especially like that they are individually wrapped. I am going to get some as I really struggle with the blue/white ones getting in my mouth
On another tack I am so relieved we have an incinerator for our County's black bin waste. I know we still have a fair bit of plasticised waste, despite our best efforts. I just bought six vegetable cheesecloth bags (Christmas Coffee and Shopping in my Village). One is going to hold garlic and hang in my larder but the others are going in my shopping bags bag for use at the market and in the supermarket so I can buy loose.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far
I also Reverse Meal Plan on that thread and grow much of our own premium price fruit and veg, joining in on the Grow your own thread

It really is complicated, isn't itwhich is what comes of everyone having to make it up as they go along, I suppose.

Those are great! I'm going to get some, thanks for posting the linkie, and an excellent price too. I want to get some FFP3 but that will take longer, I think.

For now, it's deliveries only, and I have another one scheduled tomorrow.

SAINSBO ALERT
Just had a text that says I've gone over the limit on my current account. My bank wants its funds by 2pm today. Oh joy. I talked about this scenario on Friday with Sainsbo, and they said if they do take it, they'll reimburse charges. Wonderful. Contagion is spreading.
I'd logged on to my bank, checked that everything *from* them was cancelled, but obviously Sains hold another form of debit that's trumped all that. Confirming what I'd written to Sainsbo on Friday was on my list to do today, but now it's all in emergency mode. I hate Sainsbo so much.2023: the year I get to buy a car3 -
YET ANOTHER SAINSBO ALERT
Weird. They've suddenly decided that they know it's fraudulent, and now it's just a question of getting management approval for the refund. Which surprise surprise, came in just as I was on the phone. Really, it just makes me think it went to the back of the pile because I was locked out by the security c0ck up, and once I finally managed to get back in phone contact on any realistic basis, they sorted it out in about 15 minutes, from the look of it.
Meanwhile, my bank account is £1400 in debit ... and Sainsbo say the quickest way to get out of that is to use the Direct Debit Reclaim at the bank. Ooh no, they can't do anything. So I phoned my bank, and of course my phone handset died halfway through the hold, because I'd already been on for so long with Sainsbo. Other handset also having trouble, so I phoned on the mobile. Which got through.
Direct Debit Reclaim activated in approx 2 minutes. Any normal charges for being in the red shouldn't be applied, because it's clear it's a mistaken DD. DD now cancelled, though it was showing cancelled last week for me - don't know what went on there.
Complaint already logged with Sainsbo, and the woman I spoke to in Complex Fraud added more details. We'll see what they say - they might now send two lots of paperwork about the complaint, because of today - I'll wait. As soon as my cc balance is nil, my bank balance is restored, and I have some compensation in my hot little hand, I'm going to shut this account down *so* hard, the phone will quiver ...2023: the year I get to buy a car4
