Yep, I'm really pleased with the work I put in to choosing the pattern and the wool
I'm already a grand-auntie (that's even better than great-auntie
) through my brother's kids, but I didn't really know them growing up, whereas I *did* know my sister's kids ... so this baby does actually feel like the first one, in a weird way
I'm definitely off to bed though2023: the year I get to buy a car5 -
Karmacat said:So, for today:
- buy local memberships for U3A and horticultural society. Maybe the Egyptological Society too, but thats quite a lot more expensive, and I don't plan on going.
Bought the U3A membership, and booked in to a few zoom talks.
Possibility of a spaceflight group! Woo!
Horticultural Society not due yet.
Not doing the Egyptology. Nearly did the Petrie Museum, but their membership runs April-April, not a good look for September!
- make Asda order for delivery next week.
Done. Forgot the cinnamon, feta, wire wool scrubby things, teabags, meat pasties for bro and sis, check oats and tea.
I did also put another £1500 into premium bonds - I had two lots of £25 this year, when I first started sending new money there, but nothing since. Still, a safe place to put money, until the zombies get us
Transferred £16 from Rewards to current account. Though I don't remember seeing it in the current account, actuallyI'll check.
ETA: Just checked, not yet there. Boo hiss.
I need some new apps:
- Libby, my local library has changed from Adobe.
- my bank, I remember being told they paid you £1 every month you opened the app? That would suit me!
- Nectar. That's an experiment, to see if I gain anything.
- Pinecone. Not sure if it will be easier or not, but can't harm to try.
To Do List, September:
- garden! Quick!
- app instals, don't need to be as quick.
- yet more cleaning. Outside the Corridor of Cleanliness, there are cobwebs. Yikes.
- Net Worth check. Haven't done this since March.
- submit meter readings, and find another rate/ supplier, for heaven's sake!
- the real focus of September is my brother's visit - I've been yabbering about it for ages, obviously its a big deal for me. But I mustn't prepare-by-cleaning-madly too much, that can make me ill for a week.
- erm, attend the zooms I signed up for. And attend the Healthy Walks - I should have gone for one today, I felt well enough, but I got talking to Friendly Neighbourleave enough time, please

Good progress being made here, and I love your knitting project! 😊😊
You've prompted me to start thinking a out meter readings and rates again... our electricity DD has gone up from £48 to £89 a month recently, need to sort it out! LPG has gone up too - there's always something to keep an eye on isn't there!

The knitting project has come to a temporary halt, unfortunately - the retailer was mistaken about having it in stock - and they were some of the only people that did, grrr - lots more research needed, I may have to check connections between the patterns I have and my current stash, to avoid increasing supply problems. And it would avoid spending money, lets face it.
Scooted out of the house fairly early today - my abortive attempt to get to my Healthy Walk took me by the local school, which has a proper mini-farm on the premises, so I went there again today and took pix of about ten pigletsand their mum. They bounce around like stereotypical lambs
Bit of gardening, cutting back at the front border, if we *do* manage to do any painting while bro is down, it would be good to do it there.
Did an enormous YG survey, 200 points in one go, I've never had that size survey ever - took me to £50, so I've ordered it.
Been downloading a few statements, starting to tot up Net Worth as I go.
The £16 of rewards from current account has just reached my bank account.
Bearing in mind how little of my day I actually devoted to this stuff, I'm very pleased. Notice that there's still no cleaningI'm in 18th century Scotland at the moment with Jamie Fraser from Outlander
ETA - just checked my premium bonds, after seeing Cheery's thread, and I've won £25I'm rich! Rich, I tell you

Yep, the money was good yesterday - £91 suddenly appeared from months of faffing about. The refund from the wool shop too - I'm definitely going to use my stash. I wanted to buy some wool specially for the baby, but that's not sensible - the wool I have is all new, even if I bought it at reduced rate or whatever.
Eighteenth century Scotland is a great place - and Diana Gabaldon is an amazing writer in lots of ways. At the moment, there's a real farcical (purposeful) twang to it all, lots of fun
Right - taking a leaf out of Cheery's book, and timing things. Little cleaning jobs in the kitchen, as bro and sis will be here for lunch in maybe 10 days. Clean the handles of the doors. Clean the sink, all the recycling in the bin. Clean the hob. Used flowerpots and pluglet sets on the side - clean and store, please! You can think about the floor later, it won't get done today, and if *that* lot above gets done, it's a massive win!
What else:
- email to wool merchant, ask for refund they offered.
- add to Asda order - cinnamon and feta.
- start Hampshire research - 5 days holiday booked at the very beginning of next month, woo hoo!
- if there's any spare physical energy, do some gardening.
Oops! Zoom talk at 2pm today from the National Archives. I really want to listen to that.2023: the year I get to buy a car3 -

We do want to go follow the Titanic trail - we have a great great great uncle who died on it. If there's a maritime museum or something in Southampton, I'd like to see that, our grandfather was quartered on a tug there for a few months in the early 1920s, working for White Star.
I can see Hurst Castle nearby, undergoing storm damage repair, we've been to a fort like that in Suffolk, it'd be interesting to compare, but not sure. Just seen something about the Red House in Christchurch? There's lots!
Please give any recommendations, local knowledge is invaluable, thank you!2023: the year I get to buy a car3
