Ooh, a village fair sounds most jolly! Was there a cake competition? I've missed all our little local events these last couple of summers.

Well done on changing the filter!

There has been in the past, Cheery - I confess, I didn't go for a wander inside the minimally roped-off enclosure, I didn't want to go to something that busy just when we've got the holiday next week.

Just checked online, and there were cakes, and the horticultural society did their thing too, in the village hall.

OMG!  Checking online took me down a fantastic little rabbit hole - I found Fairer World Village Name - they're doing a week of environmental talks online.  My People!  I found My People!  I've been a bit worried about local contacts as the Healthy Walks group really hasn't been working out for me since it re-formed, but this has huge potential.  I can still attend Healthy Walks, of course, but I can't see it leading to any local friendships.  But an environmental group ... oh boy.

Rabbithole has just branched even more.  Must remember to carry on with my holiday preparations, not spend all day on the internet.  Bliss.

Wotcha!  I quite like that autocorrect

I've been with brother and sister all week - saw my forest ranger neighbour at one site we went to!  He's utterly shattered the whole time, poor lamb, insomnia playing havoc.  Even I wake up at 5am, and I'm a bit tired too.  But it's so good to get the visual evidence that there's still three of us, and we still have connections.

Definitely decided I need a Big Project in place - so, for four days a week for the foreseeable future, I'll be doing a total of 8 hours on the garden and house, apart from other things like ordinary financial maintenance, trips out, and putting in a little bit of work on Christmas.

We have one more family day tomorrow, plus I'll be clearing up on Sunday, so that layout of the week starts on Monday.

Poh, sounds like a good time with family, and a nice ambitious plan you've got there for the next few weeks! What a lot you'll get done, how wonderful! Are you planning specific tasks, or just going to see how you get on?
