For a tofu recipe that is really tasty, try this. Tofu is one of those things I buy for a particular recipe and never know what to do with the rest - but I think we've found the solution in the crisy tofu recipe (in no way is it healthy mind you!).

Since I've replaced my non-stick pans with spun iron ones it's been a learning curve and sometimes things really do get stuck to the pan. But the seasoning process does work quite well and I've got a good coating on the little pan now - eggs don't stick! But I feel your pain - tried to cook some (frozen) paneer in one the other week and it made such a mess! (Moral of the story - defrost first!).

How did the cake turn out?
Sob ... I didn't manage to get it done.  This morning, I've had the delivery from Healthy Supplies (and the delivery driver was a pain, worst one I've had, so I disappeared into the Outlander book I'm reading at the moment!).  Hoping to do it this afternoon, I've got the stuff out now.

That looks nice in itself, madvix - and I might use it in other ways, but I just don't like the taste of tofu, it's always underlying everything - as I say, I'll eat it, because protein is protein, and I'm not so precious as to just throw it away, but I'm calling time.  If I want soy, I'll have soy yogurt/ cream substitute/ soyburgers etc :) but thank you for finding the link.

Oh I remember you working through that!  Interesting!  I don't want to buy that yet, there are too many other little projects going on, but it's on the list, thank you :)

Hurray!  Lovely texture!  A bit too sweet for me, even though I cut down the sugar by 10% or so, I eat so little sugared food.  But its really nice :)   very chuffed.

Black bean sauce is niiiiice :)  I'll take that slathered over anything!

Today is a tidying up day: creating a Corridor Of Cleanliness  :D between my front door and my bathroom - when we go for a walk tomorrow, I want my sister to be able to use the bathroom here, and the floor is filthy dirty right now.

I've been checking when BHF CS is open locally - before we go off for our walk, we're going to take our books and a few nice pieces of clothing and whatnot - get them out of the house, mine are stuck on top of the bookcase, and I've had enough now  B)

I did a couple of surveys too yesterday - only 205 points to go on YG now, and the Pinecone survey was sorted out, it was my fault for not seeing how *much* additional info I had to leaf through.  Credit arrived today :)

Yep, the Corridor Of Cleanliness worked really well, except that I didn't manage to clean the central bit of the bathroom floor.  Still, it was muchly improved.

The trip out on Sunday was fantastic, but I confess it absolutely **shattered** me: we drove to the local BHF to donate - I had 4 supermarket bags of niche books.  Luckily, car parking close by.  Then we went to our local NT property and realised how big the estate is, because I said "lets go through that gate" :) there was a rope bridge constructed 2 years ago, to observe a 19th century lock - the river isn't really navigable for barges etc, but it used to transport raw materials for big building projects that still exist, it was amazing.  Sitting out catching the breeze was brilliant, but a lot of it was tramping through really long grass, and it was exhausting.

Still, I managed to do 30 mins weeding yesterday, trying to keep up the exercise and fitness.  Not bad.

    So, for today:
    - texted sis, asking about the wording on a birthday card, might be twanging some triggers with playful mention of cake, and I don't want to do that :(
    - send dosh online to sis, she bought me some tinned butterbeans at my request (nectar!  they are!  they are!  :D ).
    - water containers.  One of the little hazel saplings I dug up has died :(
    - buy local memberships for U3A and horticultural society.  Maybe the Egyptological Society too, but thats quite a lot more expensive, and I don't plan on going.
    - make Asda order for delivery next week.
    - order wool for baby jumper.  It's got to be delivered in the child's first year!
    - check powercut arrangements - had the 2nd one in a month yesterday.  They've both been at dusk, and quite short, but if it was an hour later, or an hour longer, I'd be faffing about unnecessarily.  Thank heavens mobile phones have torches these days :)

    All good.

    Also all good.

Done.  I *think* its all good, but they were all thirsty for a while.

This took forever!  Which jumper do I want to knit?  I downloaded lots of patterns, because future proofing, but decided to go with the simplest I could find - which is also in a super chunky wool :) Didn't want to just "find" something from the stash, not for my sister's first grandchild, so dithered a lot between types of wool (but scratchy!  For a tiny baby!  No) (and hand wash/dry clean only!  Also No).  So its synthetic, washable at low temps, drier too - they live in a flat, its not kind to use anything else.  Bought the recommended wool eventually, but what colour ways?  It's a complete saga, I tell you :D

So I think the other thing I *will* do today is the Asda order, for a week today.  And I'd like to do *something* in the garden.  Cuppa tea is calling first.
