Argh. You just broke my dream catching up with your diary. I dreamt about sacks of flour last night and for whatever reason was on a hunt to get plain flour. 🤦🏻♀️DFW (08/08) £64,346.53 Gone (02/19)

I suspect that DFODs dream/nightmare was the reminder of what happened last March when you couldn't buy flour or yeast. A lot of that will now have been dumped because it will be OOD.

You could make a cone made from an OHP acetate so you can shovel it in. I do that with the 3kg sweet jars I refill for some of those in our Village Sourdough group from the 25kg sacks I buy. I stick it with a bit of duct tape and wash the sheet afterwards in true MSE reuse style!Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Morning! Can't do a funnel quite yet, I can't lift 16kg I'm afraid, but I have a nice jam funnel I can use after a bit. Sorry about the bad dreams! And I must confess, this flour is from April last year, and *is* out of date. But since I've been using up flour that's 2 years out of date, I'm not worrying about 2 months.
Am currently very excited, even though tapping this out on my phone. Fencers are here, well on their way, & even though I didn't finish blocking off the kitchen & the cupboard for when they use drills etc, its OK, because they DO have cordless, they're not in the house at all, even for a plug. Very, very happy about that.2023: the year I get to buy a car4 -
exciting times with fencers around - you know how to rock this life, karma! Hope it all goes smoothly.

Hooray for fencers starting on the job - you must be very very happy! That's been one you've wanted done for a very long time!
KC - I've also been there with the OOD flour, and find that keeping it cold (or frozen) keeps it fresh. I just give it a sniff and a little taste and if it passes those two tests then it gets used in various baked goods.
(How about taking the jars and funnel upstiars to the bag of flour to fill? You can always put the hoover round if you think any flour dust has escaped in the process!)4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! Thanks all! Well, my first fence is completely finished! I'm really chuffed. The flour has been completely ignored, frankly
I mostly faffed about with my phone, and then, oops, I had a bit of fun pulling out my "red material patchwork box" - there's big pieces, and wee tiny pieces
and there are quite a few options to do things: gift wrap to be used annually, an exercise mat to lay on the floor, a hat for my big head (physically big, innit
) a wallhanging, masks and washable bags, you name it, I have options.
He *did* use a cordless nail gun and drill - he recharged the base for an hour or so over lunch. I kept the back door locked, because I hadn't managed to do the covering up of the kitchen and the cupboard. And guess what, I "accidentally" left my key to the front door in the outside lock. So they let themselves in to bellow for me to come to the door, naturally enough. I really didn't cover myself in glory with all this
After the builders went, around 3pm, I spent about half an hour tidying: every builder I've ever known puts rubbish on perennial plants, and even this one was no exception: buddleia branches and trunks, brambles, a deciduous something or other at the bottom, lots. I moved that round to the front, the hardstanding, and brought back the big posts that had rotted through at the bottom - nearly all the rest of the posts was fine, and I'll adapt them for use in the raised beds.
Two sad things though:
1. the panels themselves are wonky and collapsing, and I'm giving them to my neighbour for kindling. But a neighbour unknown to me asked if he could have one of the panels because one of his was blown down. I'm glad ot say the fencer said yes, of couse.
2. What's going on in America right now. Nothing to be said, and nothing I can change, of course, but aieeee, it was bad to see.
Let's finish with gratitude.
1. The fencer!
2. Admiring all that material - I have some lovely fabrics!

I also have a big head and have trouble finding hats that fit. I blame it on all the brains in there...
