Good morning lovely people, thank you all so much for posting, and delurking too
I love that.
Well, I confess I didn't do the webuybooks listing thing - I realised why later on, because I had two long phone calls (an hour each) and two admin phone calls, that just tires me out. Still, I did lots of bitty things, eg plotting a covid-safe way for the fencer to use a plug if he *does* come next week; soaking beans; ooh, I unpacked the Viking Direct parcels, finally. And my Christmas presents
Today, I've put the webuybooks stuff on the desk, and cleared a space for the laptop so I can input and check easilyThere are some things that are only suitable for Amazon - 4 or 5 theatre programmes from the Stratford Ontario theatre festival, for instance, so eventually they'll have to go to a charity that has an online shop (unless any Canadians want them?). I'm going to try another phone call today too, to Kent
Bit of time here first though

Ta da! I have achievements to report
- I phoned my Kent friend, machine answered, we texted, we'll speak Monday. Huge result for me, very happy.
- went an hour's walk, quite close to sunset, bit of a different route, still suburban, but interesting.
- spent an hour on the computer getting on to webuybooks, woo hoo - they only took 8 or so, mostly hardbacks, and they're only quoting just under £16 - but all the faff convinced me that this was the right decision. I spent *another* hour transferring the pdf of the label to my old computer, which is the one that can communicate with the (even older) printer. Label's finally done, it's good.
- leftover books: I'll wait till the charity shops are open again and take them to one that sells books online, they're kind of niche (eg a 1st edition from 1928 of "Experimental Telepathy") ... a signed science fiction cd, stuff like that. I'll tick it off the big list when the parcel's collected on Monday, woo hoo.2023: the year I get to buy a car5 -
That is definitely a ta-da list!

Thanks all! I've hung on to all the niche stuff for a long time ... it does create medium-term clutter
but letting go without regret is very important to me, worth a bit of clutter.
Though I had a **terrible** sleep, argh - stomach ache, of all things, I've used a couple of micro packets of rice over the last few days, plus Christmas sugar, plus 3 glasses of wine in 2 weeks - ug. My system just isn't used to it. Lots of healthy stuff today, er, apart from the muscovado sugar I threw all over my porridge
Today: wrapping up the books, cooking the beans, tidying away the downstairs in case the fencer comes soon. When I need to sit (and I will, with only 3 hours sleep!) there are some travel ideas from the Norfolk rellies to look at, or the genealogy book, that'll be fine.2023: the year I get to buy a car3 -
Argh, I found some more books that I meant to include! Bother! Can't do it now, of course. I might wait and see if another set of books is good to go - I have a bit of plotting going on with cutting down the big bookcase in my living room, so it will fit into an alcove, and then I can have a 3 seat sofa, not a mini 2 seater.
Emails from the fencer, woo hoo: he's dropping off the material on Tuesday, posts etc, and starting work on Wednesday. So I'm going to clear as much as I can from downstairs, especially by the back door, they'll need to open that sooner or later to use a plug for the drill.
Lots of fun via email - plotting travel for when it's safe. A river cruise down the Danube from Budapest to the Black Sea is the top of my list. What bliss! I'll have plenty of time this time to read up on the history, I'm fairly ignorant about the toing and froing of Eastern European history, apart from the big movements. It's probably 18 months away, though - who knows, in reality? And other people might vote for other things in any case. We're all being shut down for the medium term, though, aren't we, so 18 months away is probably the very earliest it might happen.
In the meantime - gratitude that I'm well, I'm safe, I'm warm, I have nutritious food, and people to contact.2023: the year I get to buy a car6 -
