Thank you all! Dear me, I must have been so slow recently to get these reactions
I'm starting to get quite embarrassed about it! I wonder if I was more physically tired from the gardening than I realised? It's not aerobic exercise, but it's hard work. Hmmm. Have to think about this, maybe start a health diary - I need to put that on the plan for next year, I think

I also think I may have been quite down about the whole virus situation ... hey ho, it's over now. Not going to let myself get like that again.
Today, I was supposed to be having a walk with my sister, socially distanced to hell and back; can't do it now, she's been beeped by the covid app and told to self isolate. She's got no idea why: I wondered if someone had parked next to her as she waited for her daughter to do her shopping? I know the app doesn't take account of precautions or things like being in a different car, its just predicated on distance, not actual safety. Anyway, thats our Christmas Eve walk snookered.
I shall go out anyway: there's a distant bit where we could actually walk to countryside, but I lost my sense of where the path was. Done the research now, so I'm off to check - it might be horrible, the google earth pix are 10 years old and there's been a lot of development round there, but always worth checking.

My walk out was **amazing**, including a puddle 12 feet across that was six inches deep
once out in the countryside (30 mins one-way) I got trapped within a couple of feet of people because, doh, footpaths are narrow. Ah well. Then I managed to walk down somebody's drive (an awfully, awfully long drive!) instead of walking across it on the public footpath. Let's just be thankful their dog was really well trained, to bark but not to bite. Even after a walk, it's fun to check out on a map exactly what was going on - much clearer now, I like it

Fresh air is a good thing. Outside is not where transmission occurs. Enjoy the walking, stress-free x

Hiya KC,
I've finally taken the time to find your thread, I say finally because Cheery mentioned your thread to me some time ago and it totally slipped my mind. Guess I don't go on to MSE much but will definitely take the time to read your thread now I have found it 😀 I'm another in tier 4 so just getting on with gardening and looking after the hens or should I say spoiling them?.
I hope it is ok to join in on here with you all. Have a good Christmas.
Take care

Might not want to read the whole of my thread - it starts a *long* time ago, even just this one, and I can blather like billio
Tier 4 is quite something, isn't itand I can see it lasting a long time, to be honest. The vaccine calculator that's been on the interwebulator says I might be vaccinated in the first half of March, but given the way things aren't being organised very well (such a polite way of putting it!) I'm not taking that for granted.
I have one final pre-Christmas victory to report: I made my own mincemeat **whoops with joy**. All I did was throw together chopped dates, chopped figs, cranberries, a few sultanas, and some ground almonds for the "mushy" effect which I love, with dark sugar, lots of spices, orange juice and a leftover glass of port from heaven knows when. Oh, and coconut oil. The proportions went to pot, but it already tastes really good! It's supposed to soak overnight, then bake in the oven for 2 hours on a very low heat. I'm thrilled I finally managed it2023: the year I get to buy a car6 -
KC - I just chuck my mincemeat in the SC and switch it off when I think it looks done. Make sure you stir it occasionally while cooling so that the fat coats the fruit evenly.5

Mincemeat sounds great. Didn’t know there was a vaccine calculator, will have to check that out.
