HiyaWell, I *am* feeling more myself, but I only did half of that little list, I'm afraid. Dw, washing machine, printed out the letter and posted it, checked the voting letter (didn't need to do anything), cooked some onions and sweet potatoes, and really, that was about it. Today, I'll try catch up some more, but I have a box of wholefoods that needs cleaning, because my supermarket delivery arrives tomorrow, and that takes precedence.2023: the year I get to buy a car7

Just a bit of a stocktake at the end of the week, I'm still going very slowly but *some* things have happened, after all.
- Asda delivery - 3 packets of pasta were ripped open by some machinery or other. Driver said he'd reimburse immediately, but no emails arrived, so I did it myself this morning, and explained the possible double claim. Two emails arrived within an hour, so thats good.
- Did YG and pinecone surveys, all credited.
- A confession: I've been continuing the easy wins from swagbucks - ie 1 point for a poll, and ten points for playing a minute long game. Which I enjoy. So now I have an Amazon fiver heading my way.
- the neighbour on the other side of my laurel hedge has realised that I'm chipping away at it, and as she really likes the more open view, in spite of not being a gardener, she's hacked away like billio at the stuff that was over the boundary into her garden. Bliss! She knows she has the legal right to dump it in my garden to get rid of it, but she's not going to do that. Her son is a tree surgeon 🙂 and can probably be talked into getting rid of it.
- The extra light in my garden is splendiferous!
- I've
been working on a delivery from Wickes, the builders' merchant -
projects for the winter, including tiles over the upstairs washbasin,
plus the setup for raised beds - timber, soil, chippings for the path,
all sorts.
- What Wickes don't have, and what I definitely
need, are some bird baths - one for tiny ones that perch on a millimetre
of edging, and another for big suckers that actually dunk and splash
(otherwise known as pigeons, ahem). My garden has been alive with
goldfinches today, perching on the upside down water butt stand - but
one day soon, the water butt stand will be in operation, and they'll
need somewhere proper.

Glad to hear your neighbour is embracing the delights of a lower hedge! In my last house, a neighbour backing on to our garden had a massive overhanging leylandii (as it was about 20m tall - it was HUGE) and when we asked if we could trim the bits overhanging our garden she screamed and swore at us and threatened legal action (even though we're completely within our rights). She wouldn't even have been able to see any difference! People can be so funny over hedges.Choose kind7

You are so lucky to have an accommodating neighbour KC! Always good to come to consensus on border fences/hedges/plants.
Our (only) neighbours have a pristine garden, but any of their plants that wander over to our side of the fence do not get looked after! Heaven forbid I trim it, they are very high-strung and would flip, even if it was a weed. Over the years I've taken to stealth pruning - wait for them to go out for an afternoon & then go outside with my pruners and lop off the offending bits! They never notice 🤣🤣🤣
After the recent wild wind storms, some of the 10 foot Buddleja was bent over the fence into an almost horizontal line, blocking my view of our garden & bird feeder. Off the neighbours went for a jaunt in the car one afternoon, so I went out with loppers and took down all the damaged branches. While I was out there, also trimmed our heather and branches off of our tree. When they came back, they didn't notice the buddleja at all or even the tree branches, but moaned loudly to each other that I'd trimmed the heather without speaking to them! I had the windows open and could hear every word. F F S (excuse the cursing but it's truly needed) - the heather is mine, totally in my own garden, and has nought to do with them! - They are truly certifiable!
All that to say KC... treasure good neighbours!😁4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! If your neighbour's son is a tree surgeon he may have a wood chipper (or access to one) - She and you might have easy access to some weed suppressant mulch for free if you ask nicely...Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Hi there all! The neighbour's another one of those "salt of the earthers" .... the first comment she ever made to me was that when the hedge was low, years ago, she liked being able to see all the way up my garden, to the side gate, yikes ... the second was frightening the life out of me as she cycled up behind me, ringing her bell and shouting (admittedly, she was on the road, which is rare in my town these days). I have the sense that I need to keep my distance. I'm absolutely sure she's trustworthy in the sense of being honest, but I'm also fairly sure she could get very intrusive ... if she offers a favour, I'll accept, and I've also offered to her, to help her deal with loading the trunks onto her son's trailer, but I'll probably keep it polite otherwise. But she's absolutely being very kind, and very helpful, saving me a ton of time and physical effort. I sound quite mean, and I don't want to be that. I just want my garden private.
