Woo Hoo! My porch curtains are back up - privacy at night once again, I'm thrilled
they hang properly again too!
I can't log on to the new French management company, so I don't know what their website says the charge is, not just the invoice - I've been paying what the website says, rather than what the invoice says, for about a year now, but they changed hands, and my access has gone to pot. Sent them an online message, and I've kept a copy.Never mind - I'm chuffed with the curtains, I'm declaring a national holiday.2023: the year I get to buy a car4 -
Good job with the curtains - a finished job like that is always worth celebrating! And I hate hanging curtains - all that weight above your head... so well done!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

I didn't realise that! You're so uncomplaining, whereas I kind of shout from the rooftops! Totally with you on the bad sleep though - I've been getting a lot of four hour sleeps, and thats it for the dayNeed more exercise.
OTOH, I've also just done the handwashing of the silk tunic and the posh dress! And the rainbow was lovely too, yes!I've realised I can set up the direct-debit-alike without waiting for information from the French management company, as I have the banking details - that kind of doziness is what lack of sleep does. So I can do that, and at some stage during advert breaks I can do the email.Next set of plans! I can't help myself ...- get my new hand blender going, I bought it with Swagbucks points a while back, I unpacked it from its Amazon box yesterday- ditto a little tiny digital radio, same source.- phone calls - bruv, ex-colleague, and sister.- the garden - weedy grass in the borders is getting long, weeds are getting big, even the grass in the grassy bit is getting long (where its not bald).- plant seeds: I got round to *buying* some seeds last year, so they're not too old. Kale, courgette, basil, nasturtium and something called a bread poppy, from realseeds, which doesn't have the holes in the seedhead that poppy seeds usually fall out of! I like poppy seed cake.- scanning stupid French documents that have no use, but need to be kept.Eight items, counting the phone calls individually. I've had longer to-do lists than that! So I'll keep doing them till I've done them.2023: the year I get to buy a car3 -
oooo - plotting & planning - love it KC - a definite sign of spring...
... now get that hand blender into use already! - soup season is almost overWhat to say about self-isolation... needs must... it's a pain in the a_ss...
I moved to the spare room weeks ago as I normally commute in and out of the city every day...
...and what can I say other than - commuters are gross (yes I'm also a germaphobe)... Then after starting the wfh stint, a week earlier than most people, I found out I'd been exposed not once, but twice to people who went on to have confirmed C-19 - luckily for me, no fever, no cough, etc etc...
I count my blessings & soldier on!
So when that 14 days of no outside contact passed I was back in the comfy bed & left thinking that the sofa bed in the spare room is good for a day or two but really not for longer than that!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! RT, so glad to hear that your exposure hasn't resulted in any illness for you, and that you're back in your own bed, excellent. Two weeks ago today is the day I tried to buy frozen veg at Waitrose, so thats another tick in the "not ill" box for me.Sister phoned me this morning, so thats one off my new list already, though of course I'll be calling her again, most likely Friday.Otherwise: I took a sleepeeze pill last night, I was like a zombie yesterday on so little sleep, and it had a proper effect this time, I slept till about 7am, which was wonderful. Faffing and sister-chatting since then, ha. Absolutely got to catch up here before anything else is done2023: the year I get to buy a car2

Surely nothing else needs to be done once you have been on here...? Apart from making another cuppa...

apple_muncher said:Surely nothing else needs to be done once you have been on here...? Apart from making another cuppa...So true!Frustrating amount of work involved in getting the direct debit-alike done, partly because my laptop is dying and keeps switching off
oops. But I've done it! Woo hoo!
Not quite starting the new list yet: but I did manage to start using the new vacuum cleaner (HEPA filters and all) it's got to be 15 years since I had a really efficient vac, so I'm very, very happy. I also shored up some fence panels at the back (more oops) sometimes they're shaking loose from the posts, and sometimes the posts are shaking loose from the ground. I'll get it completely renewed when the pandemic is over, so for now its just about coping.
And that really is all - the direct debit took up *such* a lot of time. I *will* use this time to catch up with myself, and be very, very thankful for the space, while keeping in mind the awful reason for this space.2023: the year I get to buy a car4
