With the interest rate it can’t be because they think it’ll stimulate spending, surely? There’s nothing to spend on! And surely 0.15% makes very little difference on the cost of a loan (for businesses)?

Glad you got your veg, KC.  I sometimes think there's more availability for people who can shop instore rather than those who rely on the home deliveries.  definitely not stockpiling in your case (even the peas :p ) as I believe you are vegetarian and have food intolerances.  Maybe I'm wrong there though.  Anyone who can only eat a limited amount of different foods needs to buy them and keep some always at the ready.IMO.  I think we'll all be resorting to your countryside foraging ideas before too long too:smile:
Thanks Delichon - you're right, veggie and food intolerances.  I spent a tenner at Iceland, and there was plenty on the shelves.  Foraging - I love it, yes :) and my wild garlic in my own garden, plus my lemon balm, my raspberries (from apple muncher!) are all on the go.
As for the fall in the interest rate I can't see how it will be a success in the long run.  It might be great for those who owe money but savers might as well bung their money under the mattress!   It won't result in people flooding to save  and I would have thought banks wanted our money..  I've got about £30k which I'm going to withdraw and put into  Premium Bonds.  Not even 0.1% there but at least there's the chance of a win.  Even a £25 one every few months would better than most savings  interest rate.  I know some investments and long-term savings could get a better interest rate than the 0.1% but I need ready access to my money for essential home improvements and renovating.  Need to copy you and get a new kitchen installed asap, plus a total house rewire and work on the roof .  At our age (retired) we don't want debts.
Absolutely no debt, no way no how, if at all possible!  I like your idea about premium bonds tho, ha.  I'm going to use Martin's most recent newsletter to start up a few new accounts, but some may well go to premium bonds.

Sounds like you had a fantastic time  :)
Thanks beanie - I did, and it's often the little things like watching a woman process an aloe vera plant by hand - I mean, I've written about it on my blog, and there was loads of stuff I didn't know  so I was very happy to learn more.

Say it softly, but I think they're just stuck for ideas .... financially, we're facing bad times, and I'm glad that at least those of us on mfw and dfw who are working to control their money have started out on that path already.

    Welcome back KC!!!!!
So glad you had a lovely holiday & managed to get to the stores and replenish the freezer!  Dolphins & kitties - how amazing it all sounds!  Also lovely to hear you had FUN!
BTW - don't spend too much time catching up - the way the news is reported is APPALLING - Am working from home, but have to scan & keep abreast during working hours!  The minute 5:30 hits I turn it all off and watch u-toob fluff! I'm starting to LOVE the stupidest videos!!!
A bit of normalcy is definitely welcome - so glad you are back & online
Thanks honey!  I really did have a lot of fun, and saw such a lot of beauty - the heather trees and laurel forests in amongst the basalt volcano stubs, the beautiful little Spanish towns with their amazing markets - even me, as a veggie, I had to admire the fish markets in the basements.
Me too, so glad you are fit and well, if tired, and you sound as though you had a wonderful time
Thanks SL!  My throat is recovering after all the nattering, I had another long chat with my sister this morning, and thats most of them done, everyone else is currently email/ text, but I think that will change as we get further into this, be nice to speak with some of those too!

Think you might be right about them being out of ideas! Not leaving a lot to get things moving later though...

Any chance of some holiday pics? It would be lovely to see them!

Ooh ... it's easier to post low-res here nowadays, isn't it ... Or I could do what I did with Norway, and sock 50 or so up on flickr.  Will check my allowance there!
Tidying and cleaning has been going on ... Next, it'll be giving a quick wipe down to everything I took with me, and getting *that* put away.  I tried to wash the knitting wool I took (it was rolling about on the floor etc) and its like it became sentient and tried to strangle all the other washing in the machine; completely wrapped around everything else  :D:D:D
