With the interest rate it can’t be because they think it’ll stimulate spending, surely? There’s nothing to spend on! And surely 0.15% makes very little difference on the cost of a loan (for businesses)?Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

BTW - don't spend too much time catching up - the way the news is reported is APPALLING - Am working from home, but have to scan & keep abreast during working hours! The minute 5:30 hits I turn it all off and watch u-toob fluff! I'm starting to LOVE the stupidest videos!!!

Delichon said:Glad you got your veg, KC. I sometimes think there's more availability for people who can shop instore rather than those who rely on the home deliveries. definitely not stockpiling in your case (even the peas
) as I believe you are vegetarian and have food intolerances. Maybe I'm wrong there though. Anyone who can only eat a limited amount of different foods needs to buy them and keep some always at the ready.IMO. I think we'll all be resorting to your countryside foraging ideas before too long too
Thanks Delichon - you're right, veggie and food intolerances. I spent a tenner at Iceland, and there was plenty on the shelves. Foraging - I love it, yesand my wild garlic in my own garden, plus my lemon balm, my raspberries (from apple muncher!) are all on the go.
As for the fall in the interest rate I can't see how it will be a success in the long run. It might be great for those who owe money but savers might as well bung their money under the mattress! It won't result in people flooding to save and I would have thought banks wanted our money.. I've got about £30k which I'm going to withdraw and put into Premium Bonds. Not even 0.1% there but at least there's the chance of a win. Even a £25 one every few months would better than most savings interest rate. I know some investments and long-term savings could get a better interest rate than the 0.1% but I need ready access to my money for essential home improvements and renovating. Need to copy you and get a new kitchen installed asap, plus a total house rewire and work on the roof . At our age (retired) we don't want debts.beanielou said:Sounds like you had a fantastic timeso I was very happy to learn more.

Or I could do what I did with Norway, and sock 50 or so up on flickr. Will check my allowance there!Tidying and cleaning has been going on ... Next, it'll be giving a quick wipe down to everything I took with me, and getting *that* put away. I tried to wash the knitting wool I took (it was rolling about on the floor etc) and its like it became sentient and tried to strangle all the other washing in the machine; completely wrapped around everything else
