themadvix said:Yay to finding something you know you've got! And NASA cards too - how cool!
the house isn't quite arranged still, but its obviously better, because I've looked for these twice before, ha!
Grogged said:I bet the NASA cards are collectors items...Never thought of that! If its really good, I'll sell them and buy some ordinary ones!If you don't want to take a hammer to your disk drive (go on, it is very therapeutic 😇) then delete your files and then choose to wipe the free space. In ccleaner*, go to the options first and choose the number of times to over right, choose 7 or more. MI6 wiped 😎.
*other products are available and just as good.Excellent - when I get back, I'll do the cc thing, *and* experiment with a hammer 😎😎😎 I agree, extremely therapeutic! We're going prepping shopping at weekend for staples. Only because we know the media will whip it out of proportion and suddenly all the shops will be empty. 😕Hello Groggs, thanks for posting, I've done the snippy in thing I like to do, but it doesn't stand out as much as it used to. I did a shop a couple of days ago where about a third of it was tinned goods, along with the ordinary dried beans, peas and lentils that I have as a vegetarian, I reckon I've done enough right now.I've decided to just concentrate on ordinary holiday prep now - I was starting to disappear down a rabbithole, so I've just now got my phone operating my usual email address, not just the weird gmail one. I need to prepurchase some extra data, and also get the new kindle running, and that will be that for the electronic preparations. What clothes to pack is something else again - my sister has been noticing that in all those coronavirus interviews from Tenerife, all the tourists are in dresses and shorts etc - I have a bit of catching up to do with normal holiday stuff, so off I go

The people I'm cat sitting for are in Spain and say it's quite warm there
How nice will that be, to feel the sun on your skin - wonderful (especially with the weather here today!). Enjoy your packing, not long now!

Hi KC, just catching up a bit.
We're currently about half way through our new kitchen installation. So far it's going well, and I think it will look really good when its done.
I see you are preparing for your cruise. We will be going on our cruise in 4 weeks time, and, our itinerary includes Tenerife as well!
The thought of catching Coronavirus doesn't bother me too much, as we haven't got any underlying health issues, My main concerns are around how Coronavirus could affect the cruise. Yesterday, Fred Olsen's Braemar was refused permission to dock in the Dominican Republic, as some passengers on board were displaying 'flu like symptoms'. I don't think there's a cruise ship afloat that doesn't carry some passengers with colds and flu, especially at this time of the year, so its nothing out of the ordinary. I've been on three or 4 winter time cruises, and have always come back with a cold and a hacking cough. If other countries decide to take this attitude with ships carrying people with colds and flu, it could have a big impact on cruises.
Dominican Republic was a turnaround port, so there's now people on board who were due to disembark and people in the Dom Rep who were due to start their new cruises. Sounds like a nightmare for Fred Olsen to sort out. Currently the ship looks like its at sea, so I'm not sure if they've found anywhere to dock today.
A suppose all we can do is to follow health advice and also do what the cruise line advises. I'm getting myself into a mindset where I will expect changes to the itinerary, and will do my best to roll with it.
The thought of wearing a face mask fills me with horror - I'd find it very claustrophobic. However, I can imagine myself glaring at anybody on board who is coughing and sneezing.
I'll be keeping everything crossed for you, in the hope your cruise isn't impacted.

I wish you well on your trip, it sounds like it will be a great experience in more ways than one!
Sunshine, I remember it well! 😆
I tried for a better quoted reply but Amaz1 tablet wasn't playing ball...If it's not adding up, compound it!3 -
I agree about the coolness of the NASA cards, KC. I think your comment about selling them was tongue in cheek or I hope it was. I once had a collection of Concorde goodies, the lovely, posh-looking freebies they used to hand out to passengers. Someone mentioned that they might be collectors' items and I was so deeply in debt at that time that I did a bit of research and was gobsmacked at some of the prices they were realising. Needless to say I sold the lot and regret it to this day. The money I made was a lifesaver at the time but made only a tiny dent in the debt mountain.3

I hadn't heard that about the Braemar - there are so many developments, it's hard to keep up now, and like I say, I decided to stop following the news quite so slavishly. Fingers crossed for your cruise too, I bet you have a wonderful time, and your kitchen will be fab by thenFace mask doesn't bother me - I have to wear a scarf over my whole lower face anyway, every autumn and winter, because of the aftereffects of shingles, so I'm used to that.

Yes, I wouldn't really sell the cards - having something useable from that trip (to see a shuttle take off, back in the day) is a wonderful thing. I have some patches of the Mercury and Gemini missions, and I'm going to be doing a wallhanging this summer, they'll finally be going up where I can see them.Concorde goodies! So sorry you had to sell thema life saver sounds like it was pretty important to do it, though
I never flew on Concorde but when I was well, I belonged to a local astronomical society for a few years, and we had a coach trip to see the Concorde stationed at Filton, and of course as it was grounded, you could go inside the cockpit. That was special - its still open to tours, I think.

I'm off out today - nephew, his wife and toddler are going to make it after all, we're on the tourist railway, and most importantly of all, I'll get to go in the Tesla
I hope nobody gets blown about too much today, have a good day all.

Sounds good to me! I'm so glad I've been going on on here about this - what comes up is that there are many, many more people than I realised who go off for winter sun, its never been a thing of mine, I just never realised. So I'm a lot happier now
Have a lovely day today, enjoy the train (are you going on it?) and the Tesla!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
