So, before there were record shops, there were ... cycle shops that sold records
I'm pulling out each record, one by one, and finding the weirdest things :rotfl: the variety of shops that sold records back in the day is pretty good. There's quite a few that must have been imported from America directly, such as the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra playing Andante Cantabile (wot?) but best of all is Ukelele Ike with Singin in the Rain  Wiki says he's 1920/30s, and that means that these are definitely my grandparents. In spite of having 3 kids at that stage (more later :D) they liked to party

Amazing, apple! I definitely remember my grandad playing the banjo, it seemed incredibly exotic. Hope she enjoys it :)

Well yes, that too :D I guess you had to be there :D

Just shutting down my computer, I'd received yet another email from tv licensing, asking a couple more piffling questions they have no business asking. I answered, and then got fed up and phoned them.

Firstly, why would I still be watching live tv when I know thats illegal without a license? When I've told them I don't have a license?

And secondly, they wanted to know, since I said it was a short term break in having a license, how many months were my break? I refused to answer, and I may have got quite annoyed :p they don't have the right to demand I tie myself down like that. I confess, I'll probably buy a licence again for the last few episodes of Strictly :o but until then, I'm freee-ee-ee-eee.

TV licences people are SO vexing - it's like they just can't believe people don't watch TV. Be prepared for them to NEVER believe you!

I didn't have any problems with them. Just a letter every so often asking to confirm I still hadn't bought a TV. I finally got a licence when you needed one to watch BBC on demand, although if they did pay-per-view it would probably work out cheaper for me!
