Hello, I've just logged in to ask a simple question on the Techie Board, so thought I'd drop by to say hello
We've bought a new laptop, which has been delivered this afternoon.
Our current laptop is now ancient, and getting very eccentric, so it had to be done.
I'm having my hair cut first thing tomorrow, then after that we are going to set up the new laptop. I'm slightly nervous about it all, but I always am, when it comes to new tech. It seems like a big step for us, but I know that people are getting new laptops all the time, so it cant be that bad!
From what I've seen it looks like your kitchen installation has been a success, it must be great to have your new gleaming kitchen to enjoy.
In 3 weeks time we're going to have our new bathroom and cloakroom installed. It will apparently take three weeks work. I'm hoping that they've over estimated the time, as it seems quite long to have workmen around the place, but will be good when it's done.
My sister and I both really want to go to Roslyn Chapel, and I want to go to Orkney, but I don't think either of those are happening this year.Ooh, my vote is for the Scillies - we visited there for a friend's wedding in 2013, absolutely stunning place
Earlier this month, I was on a Round Britain cruise, and we went to both Orkney and The Scillies. Both lovely places, for different reasons. I liked the wide open skies in the Orkneys and the sheer peace and quiet of the Scillies.Early retired - 18th December 2014
If your dreams don't scare you, they're not big enough0 -
Hi Goldie :hello: good to see you. Yes, the kitchen has gone brilliantly thanks.
Best of luck with the new kitchen/ bathroom - the timings are odd, aren't they? There were quite a few days for me when there was no one here - plaster was drying, that sort of thing.
I remember you going on that cruise, it sounded great. I confess, I'm looking first at how concentrated NT properties are - the Guardian had a great article about Northumberland, for instance. I'll find lots of things I love no matter where I am, basically :rotfl:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Today, I got half a dozen little jobs done before my sister invited me to go to a particular specialist patchwork shop - it didn't take long, and we made a little detour to a panoramic viewpoint - Box Hill - which is very famous and utterly amazing. The heavens opened, mind you There's an NT place nearby called Polesden Lacey, which I really wanted to see, but she'd already seen it last year, so I'll be popping over there one day on my own - another astonishingly small train fare, just under £9, though it sounds like there's also a taxi fare involved - NT do describe a bus, but I think I need to conserve my energy more than that. We'll see.
I've also ordered sun lotion and hand cream from Boots - I just went with sensitive skin stuff, not organic, unless you pay megabucks, it doesn't seem to happen. Between the two items, I got free click and collect at a little store 5 minutes walk away.
Plus I read my gas and elec meters, 8 days useage not 7, but frankly I don't think it made much difference :rotfl: the gas meter is literally on the same figure as last week, I use so little :rotfl:
My garden got some rain as well :j2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Our garden had a little rain this evening. So did next door's washing. Oops.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0

I hope everyone's waking up to a sunny day:beer:
All the talk on here about Lakeland the other day and then the arrival of their latest mini catalogue yesterday has given me a huge dilemma. I drink copious amounts of carbonated water, not the expensive branded stuff, just Asda's basic @ 25p for 2 litres. I don't drink cola or other fizzy drinks but can't live without my cheapo sparkling water:o.
Lakeland have a Sodastream in the catalogue and I'm seriously tempted but at £149.99 it's seems so expensive after years of stinting myself when in debt and even now when I can afford to treat myself a little. The price does include a crystal glass carafe and gas cylinder. Replacement cylinders cost £22.99 although they do recycled ones @ £11.99 but only in store.
The gas cylinder lasts for 60 litres but it doesn't look as if it's going to be a very cost-effective purchase:(. Our water is very hard and I have to filter it anyway so there's the added cost of filters, although I buy generic not Brita originals to keep the cost down. One of the bonuses of carbonating water myself would be lessening my use of plastic bottles:j but to keep on buying 25p 2 litre bottles of already fizzy water seems the only sensible option. We don't tend to drink anything else fizzy so it would be used just for my water. It's definitely a 'want' not 'need' situation. Must sit down and do the maths.0 -
If you do decide to go for a Sodastream Noella, I'd suggest shopping around as there are lots of places selling it for less than L@keland.
Sunny here too0 -
OMG Noella, there's got to be a cheaper way to do it! With a result thats just as good. Surely even JL would be cheaper than that? Use your mse ninja skills! I'm off to google ...2023: the year I get to buy a car0

That looks a horrible link, sorry about that, but its almost half price to what you were thinking of! Can't have that!
Anyway, quite a grey day today, though not that blank flat grey, at least Washing machine is on, some SB is done, and I've realised that Open Farm Sunday could be fun.
I need to:
- set up the dishwasher
- text thanks to nephew and niece in law for pressie for catsitting
- ring builder
- ring dentist for routine appointment
- pop out locally for more kitchen towels feels bad, but thats all I can do.
- then do some cleaning.
- check out NT properties around our next Sun caravan holiday, erm, next week.
- write email apologising to all the geographically distant friends I've abandoned :o:o
- and something I'm dreading even more, starting up changing over my mobile service - even getting my PAC number would be a victory.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Thank you. Yes, I always shop around before buying anything and also check the cashback websites. It was seeing it in the Lakeland catalogue that made me realise I want one but not at that price:eek:0
