You said it, apple! Unfortunately, it got worse from there, the driver phoned at 6.45 and said traffic was bad (what a surprise, not ...) and could he rearrange for tomorrow. No, I said, and explained my situation. He ummed and aahed, and I stayed with the simple truth: come along now, and get the sofa, or don't come and don't get it. That was almost half an hour ago, and they're not coming now, so they don't get it, very simple.
I needed some fresh air after that sort of poison, so I just brushed up some leaves at the front (in case they did come!) and bagged them to decompose quietly. That felt good.
Since I moved to this suburban area 8 years ago, this is the 3rd charity I've tried to donate to that's ignored my donations or actively insulted what they've seen. It's a rich area (there is a food bank, of course, but it sends the bulk of its donations to the local big city). I'll be donating very little of this stuff now, I'm really fed up of being treated like this. Well, cuppa tea, and I'm going to watch something really rubbish on tv2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
How utterly, utterly annoying

We tried to pass mum's big items of furniture to a particular - and very local - charity. They were stag items, prob mahogany. The driver/decision-making-man said that they were lovely quality, but they knew that they couldn't sell them, so he couldn't take them. And when I thought about it, the shops for that ch really are full of pristine items only.
However, they did give me a list of other charities with their phone numbers, and marked up the ones that they thought would accept the items. The YMCA were the first ones available on a day that I could be there (bearing in mind that mum's house was 155 miles away from mine...!), and they took the lot. Phew.
There was also a recycling charity right by the tip so they had the more portable items and any they didn't want just went to the tip. And the 'tip' was a proper recycling area so I didn't feel that the unwanted items were simply going to landfill.
Whether they took the items or not, the contact from the charities was excellent. So it sounds like you got a bum deal. Yah, boo and hiss to non-collectors!
Hope the leaf sweeping was therapeutic and got rid of the day's tension.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -

Never minddigging about to find a positive, I can say this: I can donate to charities nearer to my heart, rather than just convenient.
And with that, I'm off to Bedfordshiresleep well all.

My blog is sorted :j
They sent me the log in details (which I should have noted anyway) and updating the PHP was the most simple action of the entire process :rotfl:
I put the header back on, I've clicked lots of pages, logged on to everything I could (host, host's CP, blog, wordpress) and everything works. New security plugins are in place too, recommended by my friendly online computer analyst
I'm going to let it all settle down, then post an actual blog :rotfl: after which I'll put it on hereThank you all for accepting my halfwit rambling

Ta-da! Finally, finally posted a blog today. found out the hard way that previous links to individual posts don't work any more - but links now look the way I *want* them to look, so I'll change that, one by one till its done.
Between the work on the blog, and the hassle from the charity shop, I'm absolutely shattered, and fortunately the weather (showers of rainstorms) has meant that my sister suggested postponing our walk and charity shop donation till it's stopped being quite so intense. Very thankful for that! I'm going to have a lazy day.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Thanks beanie
I have SB videos running automatically on my phone at the moment. One is a cat playing with washing up bubbles in a sink, and the other is a hedgehog having a swim in a shallow tray at an animal sanctuaryI like those
