Thanks beanie
first bump in the road is that BHF can't pick up until *after* the delivery of the kitchen materials, and thats no good, I need the space. Local authority bulk collection for waste includes sofas, but it needs to be at the edge of the property at 7am. I could ask my lovely neighbour to help me get it out of here the night before, but if its raining? I think I'll try to give it away on freegle first.

Hi SL, I was nodding happily to your suggestion for ages, then realised I have at least 3 completely mad relatives on fb, I don't want them to see any of that kind of news - but I might put it on the free section at gumtree, I've sold on there before now. Thank you for thinking of me!
Brilliant day here:
- nice chat with sister, who's been to Eastern Europe
- wiped down the sofa and tidied away the stuff I was piling up on it. I'll take a photo tomorrow when it's dry.
- got out into the sunshine again, put the garlic in the sunshine too, I'd been protecting it from wintry weather by huddling it under a tree, but it really is spring here.
- starting to tidy up the paving stones under the tree. They'll need to be relaid in a few years time probably, but this summer, if I can clear that area of debris and soil, it will provide a fantastic shady area to sit out, even in the hottest sun. I can't sunbathe, more than half a dozen skin cancers in my family, but I still like to be outside, and this will finally do the trick. Very chuffed!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Just checking my route for an errands trip to a local shopping town, and remembered that there's another charity that collects furniture, right next door to the BHF shop! I've submitted an online form, we'll see how it goes.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Moving goods around gets soooo complicated! BHF was no good for the right dates, the 2nd charity wanted £30 for a service offered by the local council for £20. But I wanted to know about refunds of the necessary upfront payment, if the dates they offer are no good. They say they have a refund mechanism, but there's nothing written on the website (I'm getting canny!), so I don't necessarily believe them.
The 2nd charity wouldn't send out the van unless they knew they could collect the sofa or charge for its removal, they wouldn't come out for the other stuff on its own. They offered to look at pictures of the sofa.
Much cogitation ensued! Life's too short for this, so I decided to go with the simplest option - everything I want to dispose of goes to the 2nd charity, because they'll send a van out next TuesdayIf I have to pay £30, then I do. It's done, whichever way it goes
