Just found a mistake in last month's Net Worth work thats a bit ... boggling. I'd started to transfer money here and there, even though I didn't do very much. And one chunk was in transit when I did the calculation ... end result, I have £3k more than I thought I did
:o:o
Good to find it, but I'm not doing anything else financial today. I'm reminded of the little mistakes I've made in the last few days (e.g. half an hour on the phone to the new bank cos I couldn't get on ... I was misreading my password info). I'm going to open the bond when I'm bright and energetic, not winding down after a little trip out and shopping.

We've both got money coming out today from a Halifax fixed term fixed account. I think we're going to open a Hargreaves Lansdown Active Savings Account, so, once the money is in there, we can select from a range of products within the account. I'll do that on a day when I've got no other admin tasks to do, as I need a clear head for that sort of thing.

but its a bit important
The other activity that *will* be financial, as its the upkeep of my garden and the potential to plant some fruit bushes - I got right to the border fence, a six foot high wooden affair, dug up weeds and pulled out nettles, and actually dug away a little bit more soil underneath the fence (the land slopes away) so that I can put bricks there, I'll pour gravel over them soon. They're in between two big sets of bramble roots (I hope they're dead, I'll kill them if they're not, because I certainly can't dig them out!). Again, it's about two or three square feet. The garden is changing, bit by bit.
As before, fresh topsoil put on, and bark chippings over that - I just feel sorry for the worms that my garden fork affects. Not that I spear any _pale_ but shaking clods of heavy clay soil isn't a good thing for them
I think the fence will have to be renewed in a few years, but doing the kitchen in one year is enough, I just don't want to have to do more this year.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

I wouldn't mind a 'mistake' like that, KC;)
Great find, well done:j:beer:0 -
Good news on the 'found' money, thats excellent news :j
I know what you mean re wanting to be alert and focused when doing the financials. Being tired or doing it later in the day has caused problems for me in the past. I managed to set the fraud dept on alert when I was dealing with one of OH's accounts as his executor. All because I wasn't focused on what I was doing
Good work on the garden, must be satisfying to see it changing and plans coming to fruition0 -
Thanks teapot, good to know someone else does that too
Amazing sunshine this morning, though its supposed to be awful - not quite sure what's happening. It feels like spring - and there's a little cat on heat expressing the same opinion at high volume :rotfl:
I've been tidying and replying to emails, doing SB, updating diary with caravans and whatnot, it does take a while. Still need to check through the amended receipt from Wickes, which has the £500 refund, and send an email confirmation to the builder noting I was told he'd be including a £200 reduction, those are important.
Otherwise, more of the same (navvying), except I must get round to scanning documents upstairs and tidying a bit up there. Post Office - I'm going to send another wodge through and then definitely open the bond tomorrow, might as well. After that, it will be an ISA, and then set up the direct debits between the accounts, and I think I can leave the financial admin there for the time being, after which I need to:
- do the French accounts!
- rotate the finance paperwork, i.e. do loads of shredding.
- sort the 2018/2019 paperwork, so I don't have quite this mess next year.
- I'd like to have a couple of bonfires this month - twigs and small branches, a bit too many to go into neighbour's bin (and he's starting to put a bit in there himself, so he needs it back) and bonfires mean I keep at least some of the nutrition of the waste for my own garden.
Another busy one, but I'm taking tomorrow off, so thats okay2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Good idea to plan a definite day off:T. You've been so busy recently and probably will be today too. I envy you the springlike weather. We had howling winds all night and they're still horrendous. Rain beating against all the back windows too:eek:. Definitely a day to stay inside. Lots of boring paperwork needs dealing with so being inside is a mixed blessing.0 -
Have a good day

Thanks both - the sunshine is less strong, but still there - hopefully it will stay till I can get out there for a bit this afternoon.
Transferred the last pot of money to the PO to open the bond tomorrow.
Then spent well over an hour poring over the order information from Wickes and the local builder, and learned at the very end about Wickes writing down costs they think are included by the builder, which actually aren't, at my express request :rotfl: I can see why everyone's done what they've done, its just new to me. A useful lesson for the future
Starving now! Off to think about lunch.2023: the year I get to buy a car0
