Now that you know you're not going to end up destitute in the gutter KC is it really worth putting in all the effort with SB? If it all ticked along nicely it could be an interesting little diversion, earning you a tiny amount of pocket money. But more often than not it seems to go wrong and cause you lots of angst, which is not good for you. There's opportunity costs health-wise as well as financially and maybe you should think if it's affecting you and stopping you doing other things?
Totally agree! The easy stuff that ticks along creates maybe 30 points a day. I don't mind doing that - there are occasional faffs that earn another 50 points, I don't mind doing them either. But the daily slog, nope, I'm done. Especially as I'm not ending up in the gutter :D:D:D
Em....... did I read mould ? You know my opinion on that :naughty::naughty::naughty:.
I may remember something about it ... like, in four foot high red letters, with flames coming out of them. Very little bits, I promise you, and recent too. One bit has gone today. I'll update in a bit :)

You're right! The Mould !!!!! :rotfl:
Agree about SB, though - I tried it briefly and just found it not worth the aggro x
Not surprised, especially with the intensity of your life, greent! But even though the intensity of my life is at about 1% of yours, its still not worth it, since I'm not in the gutter :D

I just went to Sainsbo, earthgirl - got stuff I wanted anyway, got eligibility for a (little) voucher - and some of the stuff I bought was a couple of live herbs I really wanted, chives and basil. I'll be splitting them up tomorrow, let them root indoors, and plant out the chives in spring

    :j very happy about that

Sorry I haven't dropped in for a while but I've just had a long enjoyable catch-up of missed posts. I love coming on here, it never fails to lift my spirits, mould notwithstanding:eek:. Heartfelt thanks for the advice about my situation regarding my brother, especially from you KC:A. It often takes someone outside the bubble to be able to see things clearly and put things into perspective.
I'm glad it helped a bit, CBC - you're in a very difficult situation.
I still haven't been to see him for various reasons not really down to me. I feel SIL isn't keeping me 'in the loop'. After each telephone conversation she promises to be in touch and then almost a week goes by and I hear nothing from her so I phone her again. We are going to arrange a visit date when she thinks it will be best, the ball is entirely in her court. I almost feel I'm being a nuisance somehow and she has still not put me on to speak to my brother. I can't tell if he's unwilling/unable to speak to me, she just says he's upstairs asleep or resting every time. Maybe I'm reading too much into it but I'm wondering if he doesn't want to speak to me given the history which I touched on in an earlier post.]/quote]
Well, I've been having a self-worth wobble myself this week, so I entirely understand feeling like a nuisance and that he may not want to speak to you. You're definitely doing your best to speak to him, and thats all you can do, apart from cards etc, as I think I mentioned.

One thing - how many people does SiL have to update? When my dad was dying, we'd all be ringing up, and it got too much for my mum, so we arranged a call from one of us, who'd then ring the others ... when its long-drawn-out like this, its agony. Its agony anyway, of course.
Anyway, I'm all organised and ready to go at short notice if I get the go-ahead, apart from an advance train ticket but what the heck if it costs more? Not a time to worry about money is it? I've put a couple of books in my bag for the long train journey and which might help with my novel in an indirect kind of way. I can't get into reading fiction when there's a lot of noise and bustle. One of them is a book on Body Language which is a subject that fascinates me, shameless people watcher that I am:rotfl:
Definitely a good idea to have a bag packed, and the right sort of books packed too :) The snippets I've picked up on body language are fascinating :) Money on a train fare to someone thats dying ... nope, not a money time. We threw a lot of money at train fares and taxis in those months, it has to be done.

Take care of yourself, though, CBC - its a tough time, no mistake. Glad you enjoyed the catchup on here :A

    The Mould And Me

    So today, I have:
    - been to Sainsbo
    - done the minimum SB
    - updated paypal, the cruise deposit has given me several thousand SBs, and I needed to update the paypal info before I could send it there. Thats the kind of thing thats worth doing.
    - a half hour in the garden, pulling up the long grass around the heather, which is in bloom
    - got ready to re-pot the chives and basil, but really don't feel like doing it right now, so thats for tomorrow.

Thank you all, and PINKYPIG :kisses3:too - I tend to try to focus on the positive, and it gives a lopsided view of my life. But this community is most precious when the chips are down.

  • We had mould behind the sofa on the outside wall when we moved it for the kitchen. :( And there's some in the bathroom courtesy of lodger #2 and their twice a day hour long showers. Not impressed...

Looks like the GoT watch is going well - OH is obsessed so I hear a lot about it.
  • We've discovered a definite cure for mould that will get rid of it forever:j. Chop all the plaster off the walls right back to the brick. A bit drastic as an ongoing maintenance routine:rotfl: but that's what we're having to have done as part of our subsidence repair work:eek:. The nice new plaster should do the trick. We're also having to replace some of the uPVC doors and windows at the same time so any vestiges of mould still managing to survive in the nooks and crannies after my constant spraying and scrubbing will be gone. Hopefully forever.

I've got a, mouldy spot on the bathroom ceiling. I wipe it with bleach which gets rid of it for a while at least .

Glad you've had a nice weekend lovely Karma :) xx

If it is in the bathroom, we found the best thing is to render over the bricks, rather than plaster over them. It is a more permanent solution and won't crack with moisture. I also use some pink spray called kilrock spray-gel descaler to remove any semblance of discolouration on the silicon seals in the shower. That and a bleach spray stops any soap-scum building up too (which harbours the spores that cause mould). I have to be quite careful as I am very allergic to moulds, spores and fungus :o
