Meeting went well, the guy listened to what I wanted and what I needed, I listened to his ideas, and he was very kind about limiting outlay - though I decided not to buy a new sink - no need, this one is fine and pretty high-end, though I will have a new mixer tap - arthritis-friendly :D

All the building work *and* the kitchen itself come in well under £12k, there's nothing fancy in there, and no new floor (though I can see there might have to be a new radiator before long) ...

Slight problem in that the cc I had with me, the visa one, wouldn't work, so now I have to find my mastercard one (saw it this morning! where is it!) and ring them. I do need to get some routine going with money and cards, still haven't got it together. Not today though, I need to do that phone call but I'm really tired.

Sounds like the kitchen plans are coming together nicely KC and that sounds like a good price. It will be quite disruptive but I always take the opportunity to have a good, ruthless clearout whenever we have anything done. Give me a black sack and I am in my element !

Thanks Meee! Actually, I can't add up :o its about £13k, but until yesterday morning, I thought it was going to be twice my plan of £10k, i.e. up to £20k, so I'm well pleased with £13k.

And I found the right credit card in my fleece jacket. The fleece I wore to the meeting :o

I've just been laying about shattered since I got back, I'm finally able to putter about the house a bit - that kind of event takes a lot out of me, so I'm really glad I could just relax - and notice how light it still is at 4.30

    Thanks beanie :)

I potentially just made an almighty mistake :eek::eek:

I was tired, but I was writing a few personal emails, and found a tv licensing one, payment rejected, yikes. I'm not going to go through it blow by blow, because my cc people specifically mentioned social media  and even though this isn't that, its close. I responded to a spammer! My cc people put the "lost cc" into action, though nothing fraudulent had come through. The bank - fortunately, the bank was the one I'd just left! I talked to them too just now, and since that account was closed, I'm safe, nothing could persuade them to take any action on it, he said they wouldn't even let money be deposited, let alone withdrawn.

Astonishing! It looked so real! I used Martin's "hover" thing before I deleted it, and it was from Japan, sadly! Can't believe I did that ... That's taken half an hour, and an unknown quantity of adrenalin ... thankfully, because of the old details and the speed at which I realised, I don't think any damage has been done. I think. Here's hoping :)

    Blimey, thats scary.
    Hopefully all well though.

I have had a couple of automated telephone calls on my landline perporting from 'British Telecom' recently about my internet being disconnected.
Very officious & asking me to press 1.
Luckily I did not come up the Forth on a bananna boat but I can see some people being convinced. Sadly.

Well done on spotting it and dealing with it so fast, karma. I can imagine the adrenaline rushing round, and the subsequent slump into limp-lettuce mode.

Hope you get a good night's sleep.

Goodness KC, quite a day! Glad the meeting went well and the estimate is within what you had budgeted. Hopefully that leaves a bit of wriggle room for getting gates and fences sorted eventually too.

At least you didn't put your fleece through the wash with the card in it! I 'lost' my business account debit card and was on the point of 'fessing and ordering a new one when it turned up with all my important papers - where I'd sensibly left it when I went into hospital :o

Eeek to the scam email, I'd read about that one, apparently it looks so real that a lot of people have fallen for it. I found one in my spam folder :p. Well done on catching it though but it is a hairy moment when the realisation first hits.

Hope you can have a gentle day tomorrow to restore energy levels?
