Right, here's the official update
- finish off the French figures for the English accounts
done.
- buy the *last* Sun newspaper and work out how to apply for the caravan spaces needed.
bought the paper
- wm and dw.
done the dishwasher.
- rubbish and recycling out.
Nothing on this one yet, this is top of the list now.
- I really need to contact my colleague and my Glasto friend, but with all the stuff thats been going on, I'm very low on phone energy. But it *has* to be phone, to arrange dates for a visit. I'll work at it, I *need* to do it.
Sigh. No.
Started the divvies and savings bit of the tax return, learned all over again that ISA income doesn't have to be declaredProbate money isn't taxable on its *arrival* into your accounts, so that doesn't need declaring either, it's already been done on the probate forms.
So now I only have to find tax vouchers for the two little sets of shares that languish about in taxed land, and for a Regular Saver linked to my current account, and a PO easy access account. Stopping all of that now, though, to do the whole Sun holiday thing. And then I'll text colleague and Glasto friend, thats the best I can do.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Well done on what you've achieved today:T. The French figures for the English accounts sound like hard work:(
I recently read an article on how best to be productive/organize your life etc etc. I'm always reading this type of thing but frequently find the advice is so obvious and of the 'teaching Grandma to suck eggs' type:eek:, This latest one advises never having more than 3 things on your To Do list at any time in order to foster a feeling of achievement when they are all completed and remove the sense of failure when items have to be 'carried over'. Quite a good idea, I thought, as my To Do lists often have about 12 items on them and I can never decide what order I should do them in. I assume once the first 3 are ticked off you can start again with a different 3.
It still doesn't address the issue of the 'frogs' which are often one of the three and might still prevent the whole list, though short, being ticked off;)0 -
Thanks CBC! The French figures in themselves aren't too bad, because its very obvious what goes where, but inputting so that hmrc gives me the allowances I'm entitled to, and doesn't double count the rental income, has been the bane of my life for at least ten years
The format changes every year - this year was different because it was the first full accounts year after I retired - and next year will (probably) be different because of you know what at the end of March. We'll see.
That list of three thing - exactly, I do more than three things in a day, a list of three doesn't give me any overview, doesn't let me prioritise sufficiently. And yes, if you're agonising about one single frog, like me and not having enough phone energy, it disrupts the whole system - which will bring it to your attention, at least :rotfl:
So, since my afternoon update, I managed to:
- put the washing on.
- put the rubbish and recycling out.
- text my colleague. Turns out he's flying off to Florence tomorrow, so can't speak to me thenwe'll speak on Wednesday
but the frog really has been eaten, hurray.
By the way, thats three things in the last three hours :rotfl: and I also gathered together all the frames and framed photos I still have from my mum's house; some are mine, some are for me to scan and distribute. And I've no idea which:o:o but I'm going to err on the side of generous to bro and sis. Also took a call from the kitchen fitter - builder is coming round on Saturday, and I'm to go back to Wickes on Friday to look at the layout he established. YouGov 25 point survey. Six things in the last three hours :rotfl:

Aw, thanks Apple! They're very little things, to be fair, but I believe in constant ticking off of lists
Stopped now, possibly for good today, watching a taped programme from yesterday
Hope everyone has a good evening2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Morning all! Funnily enough, there are three things today that are utter priorities, and have to get done:
- ready the caravan holiday paperwork that I've torn out from the Sun.
- get the final accounts details, which will also entail opening the post
- speak with my sister, for the holiday, the Tesla, and the general catchup.
After that, there are many, many things I could do:
- email nephew with the baby photos (of his baby)
- setting aside the photo frames I want. Putting the family photos in the scan pile. Getting rid of the useless/broken bits, my storage is getting crammed with it all.
- text Glasto friend about reason for delay in arranging visit
- phone Three - get my pac number, my sister thought I'd died as I didn't answer two texts (and didn't answer a landline message because the kitchen fitter was here). I want to change from them anyway, they're useless round here.
- plant up some house plants (spider and aloe vera) to take up with me the next time I go see bro. Sister doesn't want any.
Along with cleaning up and relaxing ready for the weekend, that'll probably do me for today. I'm catching up, I'm definitely catching up

Hooray for catching up and powering through lists :j I'm guessing you haven't met the builder before? Hope that goes well when he comes round to have a look. Are you hoping the work can start asap?
You mentioned getting a pac number from three - I used to be with them then the signal deteriorated to the point of being useless so I switched provider and contacted them for my pac no. It may have changed as this was a few years ago but I think it took me almost half an hour to get the number from them. They put me on to what I assume was some sort of 'retention team' who kept arguing for me to stay and offering me deals. I just kept repeating 'no thank you, I just want my pac number' in the style of a broken record and eventually he did give up and I got the number. So, make sure you are sitting comfortably, in a calm mood and can think tranquil thoughts before calling them0 -

I really do love reading your To Do lists, KC. You have such interesting things on them. Maybe not as interesting to you as you're the one having to do them but definitely interesting to me:T' By comparison mine are very boring and humdrum.
Lovely to see a fellow spider-plant owner:T. Mine have gone beserk this summer, I've had so many 'babies' to pot up some of which are on old plants that haven't produced any for years:eek:. I don't know what to do with them all, I've offered them all over the place but they seem to have really fallen out of favour. I don't know many people who have any sort of houseplants any more:(. Do you think spider-plants might be hardy enough to plant outside? Well, probably left in pots but put outside. I sometimes used to put them outside for occasional days in the warmer weather but never at other times. I don't intend to do it yet, there was a hard frost last night, but maybe in the Spring.0 -
Another spider plant lover here, but no I don't want any more:rotfl:. They are supposed to help filter air in your home.

Thank you. That's useful to know:T
I've always been a big houseplant fan and back in the 70s, when they were all the rage, I had a huge Swiss Cheese Plant. It was my pride and joy, nurtured over several years and a real talking point. Eventually it outgrew every suitable location I could possibly put it in and I reluctantly gave it to a friend who wanted it for their office at work. Transporting it there safely was a test of ingenuity to say the least:eek:. Within a few months they'd succeeded in killing it. It took me a long time to forgive her:o0
