- sister is fine with the holibob possibilities I've listed, so I'll go ahead and submit those.
- I phoned kitchen planner, he phoned kitchen fitter, who left a message with the builder :rotfl: Tuesday morning pencilled in.
- SB done.
- dw is cycling down.
And I'm off to the garden centre, even in the rain, and not doing any other jobs in combination2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
The garden centre is quite odd these days - it actually looks like a department store with a lot of plants. I bought 2 metres of capillary matting (to preserve house plants while I'm away), an egg slicer (I'm very bad at cutting up eggs, and I used to have a slicer and I want another one), a wooden dibber (50p!), some Kilner lids (I worked hard to find the set that had the least/cheapest packaging), and some Kilner jar tongs that were being discontinued, a packaging issue again, I think. Plus a cuppa tea, and I needed some nibbles. Its the second day of the year, I think, when I can allocate different expenses of the day to different pots. I'll do some work on that, but not today! Really pleased to get out there, though2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Thanks to you and a few lovely posters I have now written in big letters in my planner : PROGRESS NOT PERFECTION :

Thats pretty much what our garden centre looks like as well. Off the top of my head as well as having a restaurant they sell frozen food, deli food, fresh food, veg, shoes, clothes, furniture, pets , kitchen stuff, jewellery, books, cards, wrapping paper, ornaments, paintings , candles, knicky nacky noos and........ plants0 -

Teapot and CR thanks - yep, because its become a "shopping destination", there's all sorts of stuff crammed in. One nice thing is that they've got a museum of rural life, just a couple of stalls before you get to the cafe, lots of Victorian farm equipment is on display, and some "wind up" teaching aids from the 1950s, which are really fascinatingIf I had a quote in mine it would say 'ADEQUATE IS QUITE SUFFICIENT' :rotfl:.How did you get on with the holiday? Other holidays - my sister's doing a long weekend to Athens with her daughter. My Norfolk rellies are wondering about Prague, but they have a tricky insurance issue without the E111 form, and I don't want to go there before the end of March.
Cruises are funny. The Norway cruise was fantabulous, truly - even though we didn't see half of what Norway has to offer, it felt like we saw it in depth. The Med cruise, although it was technically the same, we happened to call at Spanish ports the whole time, I wasn't a fan - hopping into an ancient city for 6 hours maximum, when I'd normally choose to spend 3 days there .... even though I loved each individual place, I didn't like that format, I just didn't.
On the bucket list of both me *and* my sister is Malta, which feels good in the same way that Norway felt good, but we'd stay there, somewhere or other, and rent a car.
I'd also like my own version of holidays - getting a good train somewhere warmish (not hot), finding a pleasant, quiet, cheap hotel and pootling around the city for a little while - I've done that all over Europe, and I love it. Milan? Glasto friend likes Turin. Bavaria somewhere, for King Ludwig's castles? Berlin? Prague? Toulouse? Warsaw?2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Hurray! The nephew I catsit for is taking a longish break - that means at least a couple of weeks for me in London. As well as waking up with cats, that means less travel to museums, friends, the other two nephews who live in London, and maybe a few shops here and there. I was quite distracted last time, quite tired, and didn't do enough forward planning. There's just the right amount of time to do some now.2023: the year I get to buy a car0
