Never tried it with red CBC, but I'm sure it would still be tasty. We use red for bolognese - just to differentiate the flavours a bit, but no reason why it wouldn't work! (It might need less liquid? Perhaps add a bit at a time until lentils are soft, rather than chucking it all in at the beginning.) Enjoy!

Tried it, themadvix, and it was absolutely delicious:j.
I took your advice about the liquid, especially as I added some chopped mushrooms and celery to it which contain water anyway. I had some pitta bread which I wanted to use up so I had it with that and what was left I ate with a defrosted and crisped up jacket potato for the next day's lunch. Definitely something I'll be making again. Thank you for the recipe:T0 -

I'm not sure how the red compare with the green as I've never tried green yet. Don't even know what it was supposed to taste like:rotfl: but I found what I ended up making absolutely delicious and very filling.
Next time I go shopping I'll be buying some green lentils.0 -
