I can see why things would feel emotional after all this time! I've been here a good while too (although not as long as you I don't think), feels rather like home now. I've tried to leave before & always come back, although I feel rather like I'm starting a new journey this time with this mortgage...

Sadly the John Lewis vouchers aren't *that* type of voucher - they're the "£20 off when you spend "£100 type, which aren't as interesting :rotfl: well, one of them is for free tea and cake :money: but I've missed the date on the last couple of those as I'm in town so rarely. This one is valid til January though so I'll hopefully remember next time I'm in town...

Thanks CBC! I don't know about being a founder member, I found a fully formed forum - DFW wasn't yet split into diaries and all the rest, and other areas of the boards have changed to in that sort of way, but it was already all go :)

I'm walked and lunched .... what to do? I'm going to have a proper try to see if the giffgaff sim will fit - I think there's an issue with microsim/normal sim. If its fine, I'll carry on, otherwise contact their live chat.

And I've cut down a *lot* of cherry laurel - I do want to experiment with stacking the smaller branches so I can burn them, but only after I've cut the leaves, as they're the stuff that contains the cyanide. That'd be two good jobs started.

Hi Cheery - I was ruminating, and crossposted with you :) It *does* feel like home here, doesn't it! If I'm chatting about something I've heard here, I call it my social forum :) And of course you're at the beginning of your mortgage, which must feel quite something. I do love the sound of your property, I really do, such an exciting thing to be doing.

What a shame they're *that* type of voucher, though!

It feels quite daunting being at the start of such a hefty mortgage  Especially as this is my first mortgage (not Mr Cheery's first of course - he's already paid an entire one off over 25 years :o :rotfl: ) But this one still has another 25 years to run (well, just over 24 now I suppose :j and less if we can pay it off early :j )

We're on giffgaff too and when I recently got a new phone I had to send off for a NANO sim of all things - it came as a three in one thing, where it's a normal size one, but you can punch a micro sim out of the middle, and a nano sim out of the middle of that. Trying desperately not to lose the other two in case I need something other than a nano one again in the future. Good luck with yours!

I'll bet it is, Cheery - I'm sure you'll get to grips with overpayments once things settle down - you've changed the *type* of housing you live in, haven't you, as well as the actual housing, things are bound to be so up in the air. And the extra costs of moving ... hi ho, see my next post on here in about ten minutes!

This is the best thing I could possibly have read right now, thank you so much :j:j:j

I haven't even been able to get to it this afternoon, in spite of the fact that its right on my side table.

And .... the house sale is going ahead! The chain sounds like an absolute nightmare, but at least it's very short in the direction of the purchase. Lots of frantic phone calls today. My computer froze cos I was trying to do things too quickly :p

So I'm off up there in a few days to help with the move: I'd already offered, of course, but learned half an hour ago when I'm wanted :DAdvance tickets bought, as the stations up there are very different for arrival and departure - if I get sick and can't use them, I will not be happy! My sister's going at the same time, our beds have been dismantled, it's all a bit yikes :rotfl:
I really wanted to get to the cherry laurel leaves this afternoon, but its been tipping. And I'll have to ask my retired neighbour to put my bin out and take it back, I need the space in the bin. Oh drat.

    Life is never simple :rotfl:

Aww, thank you beanie. It's been a long road - and I won't quite believe it's done till it's done, but there's a really good chance now that everything will happen when it's supposed to.

Thanks for the snapshot of the women in your family in WWI Karma - it was very interesting!

You sound like you had an excellent day yesterday - very productive. Not sure when you're off oop north, but I hope it all goes smoothly.

I hope you won't disappear from the boards if/when you feel like your diary has run its course (I'm sure you won't if it feels like home :) )

Totally agree especially with the not disappearing bit:T. Lots of places on MSE to find a nice new home, KC:j.

I was wondering why you were travelling by train this time, KC, and not making the journey up north with your sister in her car. Maybe I misunderstood and you're both going by train this time. I know I'm nosy, sorry:o
