Having major de-ja-vu.
This is is exactly what happened last year, Utility Point held onto Hundreds of pounds of credit for a number of customers who had switched away, only refunding it after many complaints and within minutes of a final deadline given to them by the Ombudsman.
If they're still around next year then no doubt they'll pull the same stunt0 -
More of the same here, my final statement arrived on Nov.13th (A Friday, apt!) with promise to pay my refund within 10 days, now there's just silence from U-P. This is the third time in five years I've had to chase energy resellers for refunds.

If they're all seperate suppliers, my bet is that the other 2 no longer exist?0 -
Having fun trying to leave Utility Point again this year. Although I joined Zog on 1 November I've had an email from Utility Point welcoming me to my new fixed contract, and have now had a bill for the tariff covering the month after I've left them!

Utility point failed to return my credit within 10 working days of my final bill, it apparently been "priortised" but its been a week since then, and no payment received yet. I guess if they dont pay the £30 compensation within a week, the compensation will double to £60. What a shambles.I decided to leave because the renewal quote had a unit rate didn't match the annual cost estimate. They sent me a new quote which was for the same tariff but had a different unit rate, that did add up, but the exit fee was different. I got a third dquote for the same tariff from the website, and that was different to the previous two!Even though I had previously opted out of all marketing they still sent me a recommend a friend code after I had left.Then a month after I left then sent me a "Thank you for renewing" email. Apparently that was sent it error they tell me.So a onmi-shambles of a company, that perhaps OFGEM should investigate.1

I was thinking to switch from British gas to Utility point and started checking reviews and posts on MSE and found 67 pages of good info. I agree with above post as my quote also have issue where quote doesn't match the unit rate, as per the unit rate I should be paying more than they are quoting. How is this possible in first place? It's an easy calculation based on the gas and electricity kWh usage. All this an indication I am better off with BG...!!!

Does anyone know whether the compensation for a late final bill applies to any final bill, or a final bill which is actually correct? I got my final bill just inside the window but it is about £16 out in their favour.

My present tariff is coming up for renewal and pleasantly surprised at the one they have offered me. There is no cancellation fee and fixed for 15 months. The standing charge is 23.5p per day and 2.41 per kw inclusive of vat.
We will be using more gas in the future so for us it is beneficial to pay the higher standing charge. Also because there is no cancellation fee I may in the summer be able to get an even better deal with another supplier.0 -
Finished another 12 months with Utility Point and have now had my final bill and paid my small debt.I had no problems with them over the 12 months and some minor problems when trying to leave them. For some reason, although they accepted I was leaving for Zog they then renewed my contract anyway and continued to take direct debits. It took a few emails but they did finally sort this out and produced my final bill within 6 weeks.I had exactly the same situation the last time I was with Utility Point, good during the year, then issues when leaving. So seems they aren't getting any better, but also not any worse.0

Just received this from the ombudsman, re Utility Point;
Description
A full refund for the amount of £178.39 that includes £60 compensation inline with Ofgem regulations within three working days.
I'm not holding my breath on them paying it“If you trust in yourself, and believe in your dreams, and follow your star. . . you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and who weren't so lazy.”1
