No, her work isn't being sympathetic to her, or to anyone else in the same situation. They're a typical big company - make all the big song and dance about how well they look after their staff but when it comes to the crunch you're just a number. Likely outcome is that she'll look for a new job. Will know more in the coming weeks...

Might be worth her putting the feelers out for a new job now, even if it doesn't come to that. some recruitment processes take weeks/ months so might be worth her seeing what's out there and sprucing her CV up so she's ready to go.

Morning! Hope you all had a nice weekend!

Went to SW on Sat, to be honest they didn't really tell me anything that I didn't already know but it will be good to hold myself to account on a weekly basis. Getting to grips with which food falls into which category and where the hidden syns are will be the main focus for this week.

Yesterday I had 10.5 syns. Breakfast today was syn free, as is lunch. It's just going to take a lot of planning to get right.

Money-wise, spoke to current insurer on Saturday who can't get anywhere near the quotes I've received so far. So this week I'll buy the new policy and that'll be another part of the plan complete! I'd forgotten to list my breakdown cover which is also due at the end of the month, but if Mrs fatrab takes it out in her name we'll get a better deal (15mnth for price of 12 with AutoAid).

Tried to call Virg Med again to cancel as we haven't received a call back from them, but apparently their systems were down yesterday...... Will call back tonight.

Just the TV licence to pay then it's job-done for 2018!!

    :)

She's already started looking but her current employer is now looking at ways to possibly accommodate her. We're considering our options at the moment, now that her house has sold we've a few other possible outcomes. ;)

Not a lot to report today, SW eating plan going well. If the scales aren't lying to me I've lost 5lbs already!

Having a quiet one tonight, just need to remember to call Virg Med again to try and get a better deal out of them.

Plan falling into place nicely so far this month. Cancelled the DD for the past year's car insurance as the last payment came out today, felt good to have one more DD cancelled. TV licence DD will come out at the end of Sept for the full year.

Finally decided to let the purse strings loosen slightly and have agreed to book a small holiday for the 3 of us. As soon as the sale of Mrs fatrab's house is complete (by which time all my year's goals should be complete too) we're going away for a few days.

Something to look forward to :)

    Thanks PMO2 :)

Not had much to report the past few days, seem to be "coasting" yet again!

Found out that I can claim mileage for my temporary secondment to head office (not sure why) and that I could backdate it until June so submitted a claim for that yesterday. Will get £146 back in expenses within the next week, which is a nice wee mid-month bonus!

Still haven't phoned Virg Med. I really need to get my finger out but I've been busy cooking and reading up on the Slimming World plan in the evenings. I will do it tonight!

Thank Crunchie it's Friday tomorrow! :)

Hi. You get mileage if the head office it is not your contracted place of work. For example, I work out of an Edinburgh based office most of the time, but once a fortnight I go to Glasgow and get to claim travel for that.

    Hope that helps
