Hi. You get mileage if the head office it is not your contracted place of work. For example, I work out of an Edinburgh based office most of the time, but once a fortnight I go to Glasgow and get to claim travel for that.

    Hope that helps

Thanks, I'm normally site based. Just didn't expect to be able to claim it when based in head office, which is quite close to home. It was a pleasant surprise!

I finally got round to sorting out Virg Media!!

I called them back on Monday and gave notice to cancel my contract, by yesterday lunchtime their retention team had called and sorted me out with a new deal.

I was paying £34/month for basic TV and 20Mbps internet.

    I now have:
    170 channels
new TV box and router being installed tomorrow
    100Mbps
all for £31/month which I am happy with.

I went for my weigh in with SW on Saturday and I've lost 8.5lbs since last week!

But my happiness was short lived - I've been out of action since Sunday due to a broken rib! I've been having problems with my back for the past 5 weeks but at the weekend I thought it was feeling better. So over the past 4-5 weeks there have been a few jobs accumulating that I wasn't fit to do. Well on Sunday I started tackling them.

One of them was to check if the exhaust on the car was ok as I was convinced I could hear a leak under the car, so instead of doing things properly using ramps I decided to just jack it up and quickly check if it was ok. Bad move. The jack slipped and the car came down on top of me, luckily I saw it happen and managed to get mostly out from underneath, but the sill came down on my rib cage and grazed my head. I thought I'd only knocked the wind out of myself but on Monday I was in quite a bit of pain. Went to hospital yesterday and confirmed that I'd broken 1 rib and bruised a good few others.

Lesson learned. Don't take short-cuts even if it's just a 2 minute job.
    :(

Wow your accident could have been so much worse! I'm glad you had the presence of mind to get out from under so quickly.
Congratulations on the Virg Meeja. I read what you had written out to my oh and he finally agrees it would be a good idea for us to do the same!

In reality it's £37/month, the £31 is an average over the year, they've applied a £2.50/month discount for 6 months and given me a £50 credit.

Go for it!! What's the worst they can say? I did need to give notice to terminate to get this deal though, the disconnections department couldn't get anywhere close to the deal that the outbound retention team could offer.

    Good luck :)

Well done on the weightloss and Virgin Media. :T

How scary about the car, well done for getting out of the way. Hope the rib heals soon.

    Morning diary!

Not much to report on the moneysaving front today, just waiting patiently for the TV licence DD to be taken.

Weigh in at SW on Saturday was another great loss - 6.5lbs off!! That's 1st 1lb in just 2 weeks! I've set a target of 4.5lbs for this week but we have friends coming to stay on Friday so the eating/drinking plan might be out the window for a few days. I'll just need to try extra hard between now and Friday to stay on plan.

    Have a great week :)

10 weeks ago I set myself a target to lose 10 pounds in 10 weeks, well today is the end of the 10 weeks and I'm delighted to say that I've lost 16 pounds!!!

I've always struggled to control my weight but this time I'm determined to do it. I've got 2 stone to lose before I'm down to the weight I want to be. And I'm going to do it by Xmas.

    Next challenge - 28lbs in 14 weeks!!!
