Hello Ladies,
LL even though it is ill health that is keeping me from employment at the moment, the silver lining is that I can take up lots of opportunities to have experiences that I would not have been able to attend.
Maman that resort in Turkey looks gorgeous. Enjoy your holiday
I went to Karaoke and thanks to Wayne being very complimentary and supportive and choosing to spend the whole night in my company, I had a really good time.We did a lot of talking and dancing. I mostly had to dance sitting on a stool, but that did not stop me from enjoying myself.
I sang 3 songs:
1. Hurt So Good by Susan Cadogan
2. It's Now or Never by Elvis
3. Lean On Me by Bill Withers
Today I had a free ticket to go to a Poetry Workshop at The Queen's Gallery at Buckingham Palace. I loved it.:j:D The exhibition we visited for inspiration was Splendours of the Sub Continent after which everyone in the group then wrote a poem.:D
I never even knew of the existence of The Queen's Gallery until today. There are so many other events happening there in the coming month's that I would love to attend.
The sun was shining here in London, so my Pink Calvin Klein sunglasses got another day out on my face0 -
maman that resort in Turkey looks amazing. Very beautiful and chic. I hope you have a lovely time.
Sugar having interesting and fun experiences is one of the best forms of medicine you can get. Good for you, for enjoying life.
I have three weeks left at work in my current job and then a weeks leave before I start my new job. I am now counting down the days before I go.
When I decided to take voluntary redundancy, I decided to treat myself to some new clothes for when I found a new job. I have bought a couple of pairs of trousers, skirts and dresses over the past few months. Left in my list is some new tops and a pair of shoes. I am going to cull my current work wear and get rid of anything that doesnt make me look or feel good. I spent a bit more than I planned to, but not hugely. The main thing is that I like my new clothes and they represent a new start for me.
I also have the bag I bought in January to use (page 1 of this thread). When I bought it, I decided to put it away until my birthday, so I havent used it yet, buy my new job is the perfect opportunity to do so.0 -
Well I can now say that I have had Botox. Do not look any different but then it was in my left arm. Ha. Not very funny though - six injections and has really knocked me up. Hopefully it will help with severe !!!!!!!ity. My daughter asked if one arm will now look younger than the other...0

Hi All!
Just to say I have two bits of good news.
Firstly, I have lost another two pounds and now have lost a total of 2 stone 6 pounds since January. Still have a load more to go, but half way there
Secondly, and this really excites me. My son has mild Aspergers' syndrome and also suffers from lack of confidence, despite being a very intelligent and able chap. He works at Morrisons and has done since 2010, on Oven Fresh and on Checkouts, where he works at the moment and prefers.
Anyway, the store need two new supervisors to do mainly Customer Service work. Now I have long thought he would be excellent at Customer Services; he is friendly and personable and even if things go wrong he can put them right efficiently and with a smile.
Obviously someone in Management in the store thinks so too,his name has been put forward to train up as a Supervisor. He came round tonight to ask our advice. We told him all he suffered from was lack of confidence, he is well able to do it, even the paperwork, with appropriate training. I also pointed out, with the retail sector collapsing as it is at the moment, Customer Service is an easily transferable skill into other sectors, whereas Checkout Assistant isn't, particularly.
He is going to tell them tomorrow that he wants the job.
I am so pleased and proud for him(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -

Hello Ladies,7DW that's great news for your son and for the store - hope he goes from strength to strength in his new role xx
I went to the Spoken Splendours Poetry Recital at The Queen's Gallery last night.:j We were all very privileged to have the 2 well renowned poets Daljit Nagra and Imtiaz Dharker read some of their poems to us.:D I thoroughly enjoyed the readings of both poets but my preference was for Imtiaz Dharker's body of work. I had a free ticket for this event so it was another MSE event for me.I got a free wine glass of Sandringham apple juice, which comes from the Sandringham Estate and it was absolutely delicious.

SDW......wow, great news for your son.
My niece has aspergers, she has a lovely kind nature and I think she would do well in customer services. Unfortunately her parents kept pushing her. She has loads of paper qualifications, at least 2 degrees that I know of and gawd knows what else. She speaks several languages and even taught herself to read Latin and Greek.
She is 34 and has never worked, the consensus is she is unemployable. I disagree. I don't think anyone is unemployable. Often all someone needs is a bit of guidance, and a helping hand. Aspies are no different. Yes they have needs and allowances have to be made to ensure they get the right working environment but many aspies are extremely intelligent.
A friend of mine had a brother who everyone tried to write off. When he was born the doctors told his mother to put him in an institution. She refused. He eventually walked when he was 4. His development was always slow and he went to special schools. His speech was always slow and slurred and his vocabulary was quite limited.
When he was 15 his sisters boyfriend offered him a job in his jewellery shop. Sweeping, up, making the tea, running errands. He could only manage 3 days a week because he got very tired. He couldn't function well in crowded spaces because his balance wasn't very good so a small shop was perfect for him.
Gradually he learned more and got more involved. The jeweller taught him to do simple jewellery repairs, from there he graduated to clocks. Turned out he was a gifted clockmaker.......:rotfl:
My niece cannot stand noise, crowds, or bright lights. Her balance can be a bit rocky. But she is smart and like many aspies has a phenomenal memory, almost total recall. She is particularly good at all things science and technology. All she needs is a quiet place to work and I'm sure she would flourish. She has great attention to detail so I think a science lab of some sort where she could do research would be her forte.
It really pains me that her father has no time for her......never did. He walked out years ago, but even before that he largely ignored the poor girl. Now he visits once in a blue moon and does nothing but criticise her. She panics for weeks before each visit and of course her condition deteriorates as a result of all the stress and anxiety. Some people don't deserve to be Parents.
Anyway....back to fabbing. This week I've had a massage and visited the chiropodist. All maintenance stuff. I have managed a bit of yoga.
House move seems on track. I have just received a delivery of stout cardboard boxes and packing materials so time to get sorting, decluttering and packing......
Aiming for September or earlier if possible...there are only 3 in the chain so hopefully there won't be too many delays or hiccups along the way.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend.
DILs parents are here, only 2.5 weeks now till her due date. Luckily they have the World Cup to keep them amused till the baby makes his grand entrance.0
