  • Sugar When I was 40 I had great teeth, straight and fairly white but they started to splay after a course of dental treatment, I had two removed and then it all went wrong, they started to shift within weeks and now I have a massive gap at the front. A lower tooth started to wobble and I had to have that out and now have a partial denture for that one tooth. They are wrecking my mental health tbh, I'm obsessed although I sometimes wonder if some of it is in my head. I would love to have the 'smile in a day' treatment of fixed implants but it would be around 40k. The change in 10 years is unreal.

I have money but it is my future house deposit. I'm not sure if a dentist could help me cheaper. It's a horrible way to feel. My 1st 'lottery win' purchase would be to a cosmetic dental expert.

Butterflies my ex got his cv looked at and updated by one of the job seeker places F.O.C might be worth asking around

Thanks very much I am looking to see if I can find a place. Yesterday got a call and so I have an interview next Tuesday for an accounts role in Pendle at 10am and I have to register with yet another agency in preston. I must be registered with around 10 agencies now.
Bought a new curtain pole from the range yesterday for the top of the stairs (newly decorated), but dunelm have stopped selling the £22.50 Balmoral duck egg curtains and put the price back up to £40 a pair!, so i have ordered some online that have the colour in but are downward stripes as we will be replacing the carpet with a striped one later this year.

I had really dry and watery eyes yesterday, they were so tired too. Possibly caused by dry air, so today Im wearing foundation but no eyemakeup to reduce the irritation.

Thanks for answering my query. Was the original dentist who made the decision to remove those 2 teeth at fault? :(

It may be worth your while getting another dentist's opinion on what went wrong with your teeth. I am sorry you feel so self conscious at not having the perfect smile, but I thought you would be describing a lot more dental issues, considering the cost you are quoting for the cosmetic repair.

Maybe a confidence building course would help you in the short term. :)

That happens to me sometimes. I've put it down to changing my moisturiser but it seems to happen fairly randomly so I'm not sure about that. Like you I work on eliminating things until I sort it out.
Can I ask you a question about your upcoming birthday lunch, why have you not chosen a child friendly venue which would have meant that none of your relatives with children would have needed to refuse your invitation?

It is just an observation, not a criticism about your choice.

I'm glad you asked that sugarbaby because it made me think. I think the primary reason is that I wanted an adult party. I've had other celebrations where we have an open house and invite everyone but this time I wanted something different. The secondary issue is that having chosen my venue we are limited by numbers. DH, particularly, has a large family so as I had a large number of friends and my family too I had to stop at niece/nephew generation. It is a bit like planning a wedding sashy. I think what's upset me about my niece is that she lives closest to the venue, has loads of friends and people who could babysit but couldn't spare me a couple of hours when others are travelling hundreds of miles.

I don't love my teeth either luxurywoman so I can understand how you feel. In my case the incisors are right next to my 'front' teeth and I have gaps where the incisors should have been . Nothing ever grew there after I lost my baby teeth so I've just learned to live with it. The dentist has talked about possible solutions but I suppose I'm just used to it now. Have you ever thought about Eastern Europe?

It's a lovely bright day here. I've been out for a lovely walk and then coffee with friends. It was so nice that we sat outside.

Have booked up to see The Post tomorrow. I believe Meryl Streep plays the first woman editor of the Washington Post at the time of President Nixon. We tend to go to the cinema in fits and starts when we fancy something.

Hope everyone's having a good day. Friday tomorrow!:D
  • Maman I am considering a treatment called 'BOST' or bone one session treatment which might help and be a lot cheaper, but it is quite untested - I need to do much more research

Hello there everyone! What a lovely supportive thread, please can I join in? I’m 45, married with two boys aged 10 and 12 and I work full time. I’m trying to look after myself more this year, rather than spending all my time looking after everyone else! Plan is to lose some more weight, dress to flatter my figure more, take up yoga to try to improve my posture, get more energy and also look into improving my teeth. Also to master curling my hair and applying eyeliner, and generally be more groomed.
It’s dress down Friday in work so I’m wearing uniqlo jeggings (tip from here, thanks) with knee length black boots and a warm wine coloured top. I’m also wearing my silver aromatherapy locket, with orange and frankincense essential oils (doubles as my perfume) and purple earrings which look a little like bunches of grapes. Friday is bacon butty day in work (not so great for the healthy eating, but everyone needs a few motivational treats, right?) and I decided against my cream coloured jumper as bacon grease down my front is not quite the look I’m going for

Welcome samphire, good to have you along.:)

This is just a very quick post to ask about the aromatherapy locket. I'd never heard of them. Do tell us more. How much? Where did you get it? Where do you buy oils?

Welcome to all the newbies that have joined since I last posted :hello:

Sorry I have been AWOL for a while but RL has been very hectic

sashybo - your day out sounded fun :)

Butterflies - hope you have some luck with your job-hunting & good luck for your interview next week.

luxurywoman - I do sympathise with your dental problem - I have never been that happy with my front teeth - I wore a brace when I was young but still have a small gap between my top front teeth :o

samphire - I am also just starting out with yoga to improve my posture and am finding the Youtube videos 'yoga with Adriene' that sashybo recommended are really good - she is very easy to listen to and understand for a complete novice like me ;)

I had my doctor's appointment this morning about my menopause problems - she has referred me for some blood tests and has suggested we discuss it in more detail when we get the results from those - I must say I have been feeling a lot better over the last week :j

I have a facial booked for next week which I am looking forward to - it is my bi-monthly treat to myself - I might even push the boat out next month and have a massage too :p

Must check out the Uniqlo website - keep meaning to do it but haven't go around to it yet.

Have a lovely weekend all :)

    Hi Maman!
My aromatherapy locket is from a company called aromalove. https://www.aromalovelondon.com/ I have the silver tree of life design - I like the fact it comes with different coloured felt pads (the bits that you put the essential oil on) so you can co-ordinate it with what you’re wearing. I generally buy posh essential oils from an American company called DoTerra, but they are pricey. I used to get my oils from Boots ( have just found the DoTerra ones much more effective for my insomnia).

Thanks, I’ll check out Adrienne’s site for yoga. I’ve been looking at healthymoving.com. I found her Genie Magic stretch a godsend when I had neck pain so bad that I couldn’t turn my head properly https://healthymoving.com/blog/video-the-genie-magic-neck-stretch/. Other people have recommended Adrienne too, this will be the year I learn to s-t-r-e-t-c-h properly:j
