    A tale of the un-fab

I popped into Lidl today to buy a few bits and pieces and I picked up a jar of albacore tuna, which was £5.99. When I got to the till, the cashier scanned it and said to me you know this is £5.99, dont you?. Clearly, I dont look like someone who buys £6 fish. Haha. In the cashiers defence, we live in an area with lots of poverty, so I suspect she was trying to be helpful.

    :rotfl::rotfl:

Many years ago I did a shop in Sainsbobs.......the cashier looked at me and then my purchases and said "you have expensive tastes" in a very accusatory manner. There was a small pheasant in there, and some salmon......:rotfl: Cheeky madam.

( It was when we were hard up when our children were babies and I was cooking a special anniversary dinnner......easier and cheaper then a good restaurant and baby sitter).

My DS1 and DIL have arranged for a family session with a professional photographer with the new baby later today so I'd better get dolled up.

Not sure what else is on the agenda for today, my hands are really tied at the moment. Can't really do any more packing and until I've got a firm date I can't crack on with sorting out the utilities and change of address stuff.

Hopefully this week should see things finally settled.

Still a bit grey and murky here today...... If this cool spell continues I'm going to have to unpack some of my warmer clothes....:rotfl:

    Have a great day.

Must say the only time I can think of a reaction by a shop assistant was of a non-monetary variety.

I bought a cauliflower in a greengrocers one time and only wanted a small one - but both tiny and huge were the same price for some reason. So I picked up a huge one and, when I got to the till, asked the assistant to cut it in half for me and I gave the other half to the elderly women beside me (saying I didnt actually really want that much). Assistant just looked a bit surprised - but did so. Elderly woman made a point of sticking around to thank me/tell me how much she'd enjoy it.

The same shop though I can recall there was an assistant at the till doing precisely nothing except having a vacant look on her face whilst I was having a tug of war with another customer that was trying to steal a shopping bag of mine off me. Despite my tellings-off of the would-be thief getting louder and louder, as I held onto my bag determinedly, the assistant didnt react. In hindsight - there should have been two tellings-off - as I should have "asked" the shop assistant why they hadnt helped me/as they must have realised an attempted theft was happening.

EDIT; Tell a lie on that - as MANY years ago I was walking through a very expensive area of London and a shop assistant in a clothes shop gave me a haughty/"you cant afford this" look at me. They hadnt spotted the boyfriend I was with then LOL......one quick look at him and they'd have soon started smiling (not that I've ever been very good at taking presents from boyfriends......).

Morning all - went hopping with a friend last week & managed to get some nice grey jeans and a red long line fine knit cardigan - bought to replace a cardigan that had a gathered seam across the back that made me look like a hunchback! That one is is in the CS bag. My fried was looking for a jumper but couldn't find in the right weight/neckline. I saw one in my local CS that might suit so she's coming over today to have a look.
Need to go through my wardrobe and have a bit of a cull and sort for the cooler weather.
Sugar - you've made the right decision with Wayne - I've always believed no relationship is better than a bad relationship. Your outfit sounded lovely. Get yourself back on the straight and narrow with the diet so you feel even more fabulous for your holiday with your sisters.
Only tale I have wth shop assistants was when my DS2 aged 7 said I'd been overcharged for my shopping - about half a dozen items. This was before scanners so I politely asked the girl if she would recheck - he was right! He's always been good with maths but was proud when a lady behind me (who I'd apologised to for keeping her waiting) complimented him on his mental arithmetic.
LL - I still tend to do celebratory dinners at home mainly because DH reckons none of our local eateries do any better - but he always clears up after ;)

I have regained a few pounds of the weight I had lost. :( I had a good look through my food diary and could see that I had slipped back into too much unhealthy snacking.

Great idea to use a food diary and review sugarbaby. You're doing so well to write down everything you eat including snacks. Do you remember that Secret Eaters programme where people seemed to think if it wasn't a proper meal it didn't count?

I'd imagine your home made fried rice is much cheaper as well as healthier than a take away.

At the moment we have two local restaurants that I would use for a celebratory meal, one Italian and one Indian. Unfortunately when it's DH's birthday next month the Boat Show is on so we'll go to a country pub instead.

:rotfl: I'm sure she meant well chanie.

I'm frequently asked if we're having a party and can they come by cashiers. It's because I choose to buy wine in bulk when it's 25% off in Sainsbury's. Very mse :money:really!

What does make me feel good though is when I'm asked if I want a VAT receipt when I'm buying fuel. It's often on Fab Friday:D. I always assume that it's because I look smart enough to either be running a business or on an expense account. It doesn't happen when I'm in my leggings!

Dry and bright here today but definitely getting cooler. I must add 'culling wardrobe' to my to do list. I could do that at the same time as putting summer stuff away. Is it too soon to do that?:)

The shop assistant stories made me smile as it made me remember this , years ago me and a friend was in Harrods, It had been raining ,and to say we looked bedraggled was putting it mildly. Shopping / Carrier bags in hand ,,,,,we were in thier department that sold beds , A man ( Employer) was stood like on guard at the side of a huge 4 poster bed , It was beautiful . It even had red cord barriers around it , I said to my friend i wonder how many thousands that cost......... the "Guard" beckoned to me ,,,,, i went to have a look at the price tag, and he lifted the cord barrier and whispered do you want to have a sit on it , .............i felt like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman Ha Ha , Little did he know ,,,,,,,,,we actually had a 4 poster bed at home . ( not as posh as that one i hasten to add)

Moll.....well you might have looked like a drowned rat but obviously a High class drowned rat. :rotfl:

Good morning lovely ladies......well the photo session went well but it went on for an eternity. I was shattered afterwards so god knows how my poor grandson felt but he was a real trouper smiling and gurgling like a pro. Then when he had had enough he settled on my chest and fell asleep. It is so nice to have a baby to cuddle sometimes.:D.

Not sure what today brings. Can't really do much now until we've exchanged contracts then no doubt all hell will break lose. :rotfl: might pop into town for a wander. Could do with a couple of lightweight cardigans or sweaters for autumn.

Feeling very stiff this morning so first a nice soak in the bath and then try a few yoga stretches, managed to do some yesterday after weeks of not doing any. I really need to get my act together and do it every day. Lol.

    Have a great day.

Friend came over yesterday and we went to see if the jumper was in the CS - it was, it fitted and she loved it! All for £2! She also found another one for the same price - nothing for me but I'm pleased she got something she liked.
Little bit of sewing today - a pair of jeans to tweak and a t-shirt to shorten.
LL - how lovely to have a warm snuggly baby to cuddle - a real ahhhh moment to cherish

That was a good bargain for your friend silva. I like to have a regular browse in the CS, you never know what they'll turn up.:)

For house fabbing LL, I noticed a new (to me) programme on (I think) Channel 4 called Bang on Budget. It's on at lunchtimes this week. I've given up on recording Homes under the Hammer because it's constant repeats so I thought I'd try that. I use them when I feel like relaxing and there's nothing I fancy on in the evening (which is frequently). It's a bit naff and it's better on record/catch up so you can fast forward the boring bits and adverts. Earlier in the week, they did a lovely Art Deco bathroom which has given me ideas.:)

I'm planning to get my nails done again this afternoon. I'm going to have them cut short and renew efforts to keep them healthy with some oiling of cuticles. I think the shellac is taking its toll a bit. :(

Glad the photo shoot went well. :)
