Thanks for the heads up on the house fabbing programme. I'll look out for that.

Well a very successful shopping trip.......I deliberately went to sainsbobs because I have got to go back on to lacto free dairy and they have the best range. Whilst there I picked up two lovely big thick coatigans, one red and one a deep mustard and two fine knit sweaters, one grey and one dusky pink. So what with what I already have that should be enough knitwear for now. Unless of course I pick up some charity shop bargains.....:rotfl:

You did well there Silva. Well your friend did). :D

Still feeling a bit delicate, as usual after a tummy flare up I now have some fibro and joint pain.....so going to take it easy this afternoon. I have learnt that one always follows the other ......first tummy problems then followed by a fibro flare up.......as regular as the rent man, so thats why I have gone over to lacto free again. My Own stupid fault really.

One day I will learn that cheating or playing Russian Roulette with my diet isn't really worth it. :rotfl:

Just noticed your comment about nails, Maman. Good idea. I'll be honest and say I'm not a big fan of artificial nails although I can understand the attraction but they can do a lot of damage in the long run.

I know it can be a lengthy process but I do think it's best to think about overall health nail health. So keeping them short, oiling them etc is the best way to go about it. I would also recommend an old fashioned nail buffer. Use it daily (whilst watching tv). Buffing will stimulate blood flow to the nails providing them with much needed nutrients.

And of course protect them from harsh chemicals and detergents. If you are prone to sore or split cuticles then wear warm gloves In winter.

Sounds like you did well with your shopping LL. Mustard is very popular this year. I think it's a great idea to mix classic pieces (and even old ones;)) with something in current fashion. It's mse as well.

Shellac isn't false nails as such. It's polish on natural nails but they heat treat it to set it hard so that it doesn't chip. I don't have any cuticle oil as such so I thought I'd use some Bio Oil or even olive oil if necessary!:D

Sorry can't really help with the straighteners TF. I don't use them. I have a hot brush instead to make my hair a bit fuller. I notice that Babyliss has good reviews though and I do like their hairdryers. To be honest I think I'd take normal ones unless you're really pushed for space. I have a travel hairdryer and I only take it when I'm travelling really light as it's not as good as my normal one.
  • Not sure of a general way to shift the autumn blues but I find watching stand up comedy or musicals either on tv or live always lifts my spirits. I am going through a bit of a crisis at the moment and a friend sent me a YouTube song which I found reassuring. Type in U2 Bono David Letterman and then watch clip of ‘stuck in a moment’

Flo....sorry to hear you are going through a bit of a crisis. Hope all is well, sending you hugs.

Well the sun is shining and the forecast is settled....getting warmer again.

Still no news about my house. My solicitor comes back from holiday today so hopefully she can start chasing everyone. On a positive note the delays are giving me lots of time to think about ideas for my house.

Maman I watched a couple of those Bang on Budget programmes last night. Some useful tips. But I have to smile though - even the copycat rooms on the reduced budgets were a bit rich for me. One couple spent £2400 on curtains for two windows for their lounge.:rotfl:

have they never heard of Dunhelm.....:rotfl:

    Have a great day.
  • Another thing that lifts my spirit is really focusing on nature eg. Birds in garden.

I have some Babyliss ones( Sainsbury). I think they were £13.99
They are perfect for travelling, and are as good as my GHD's

Maqman - what a coincidence! I'm having my shellac removed this afternoon. I've had 3 lots done - first one at the end of May for holidays. I've been really pleased at how robust it is. My nails were getting longer and longer but after sailing last week I broke 3 so having it removed and giving them a breather until late October ;) I do use an old bottle of Superdrug Vit E oil for my nails as I never remember to wear gloves but any oil would be better than none.
Flo - sending you positive vibes and hope the blues vanish soon x
Had a convo with DH - I would like my kitchen/diner revamped (its about 25 years old) and he's going to paint the fitted cupboards in the dining area for me. They are good quality, nothing wrong but a bit dated. Ive found a very pretty ice blue paint and some new knobs on fleabay that look a bit 'delft ish' The large alcove has been fitted like a dresser so I'm hoping what is in my mind looks OK in reality!!
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

Sorry to hear you've been a bit stressed flo. Thanks for your tips. Only this morning I was saying how the natural world is so uplifting. Soon it'll be time for all those gorgeous autumn shades. And much though I love the summer, I prefer walking by the sea in the cooler months:)

I agree about the size of the budgets on that programme LL but it was more the design ideas that I thought were worth watching.:)

We've painted cupboard doors very successfully silva. To give my old kitchen an update (while I dithered over a new one:o), we painted them yellow based on the dining room I'd seen at Monet's house in Giverny. Ironically, his kitchen is blue.

When I eventually chose a new kitchen then we recycled some of the doors for the utility (so sort of cheats integral appliances) and this time painted them a pale green. They're still going strong. They originally came from Texas if anyone remembers the old DIY chain.:D

I've had the shellac back on for another few weeks then I'm going to take a break until time for Christmas parties. :)

My hair has got really long, especially my fringe. As my hairdresser only works Saturdays and Mondays I'm going to make an appointment for this weekend if she can fit me in.

It's a lovely day here. Although chilly this morning, it's been great now the sun is out. We had a long walk and then coffee in the sunshine. Only I had Earl Grey because I'm trying to keep the milk low to have cheese tonight!:D Do you have non dairy milk LL? Almond? Soya?
