Good morning lovely ladies
No not yet, the best so far is "Rainbows End".
A homage to mum and dad, who called their cottage Rainbow Cottage, because there was a lovely rainbow the day they moved in.
I like the "End" bit because it has a sort of "hobbity" vibe and the new house has a sort hobbity feel.
And of course the connotations of End of the Rainbow and new beginnings. Hopefully finally ending an unhappy chapter of my life and starting over.
Need to chase the solicitor today.
I'm off to acupuncture this morning. Final week of the treatment plan, only 2 more sessions left, .I usually have to rest afterwards so I will just nip into Aldi for a few bits on the way home and then I can sit and sort out some paperwork whilst I take it easy. Maybe sit outside for a while if it's warm enough, the forecast is overcast but warm.
Did quite a lot of packing yesterday, not much more I can do now until the final few days. I feel like I'm wishing my life away but I really want it to be sorted now. I just want to get it over and done with.
Did I mention part of my fitness plan........I am going to turn the small bedroom into a temporary mini gym. Eventually I will convert an outbuilding of course so I can free up the bedroom for grandchildren visiting but for now I thought it will make a nice gym, set up a tv and DVD player in there for workout videos and maybe films or tv comedy shows whilst using the equipment. Somewhere to do yoga as well.
I already have an exercise bike and an elliptical trainer - although I might change that for a treadmill. I find the trainer very hard going, it's very heavy to use...either that or I have very poor muscle strength. Hopefully I can borrow my sons multi gym for a while until he starts using it again. (The diy, daddy duties and his daily walk to work are keeping him fit.....:rotfl:).
Anyway it will be a good warm space to exercise in. I am also thinking I will put the temporary infra red sauna in there, although I have not bought that yet.
So many plans and ideas....
My other big idea is to continue my no buying clothes (ok maybe the odd charity shop bargain:rotfl:). As I packed my wardrobe away I realised I really don't need anything for next winter. I reckon I can get away with not buying anything until next summer. Apart from undies and bras of course.
I also noticed I probably have enough toiletries and cosmetics to keep me going for at least 6 months.
Perhaps as well really because I am sure I will be spending enough on the house...:rotfl:0 -

Its seems strange that however much I use, things seem to take an absolute age to use up! I'm determined to get down to just brands I really love but it's not quick. I think part of the issue which is very mse:money: is that I've been much more conscious just how little product you actually need each time.
This week I've seen off a Superdrug face wash which didn't foam enough to be used with my complexion brush plus I can buy muslin cloths in Home Bargains. I've got a Pantene conditioner in a tub which I'll be glad to see the back of. I decanted it because the original squeezy bottle basically didn't squeeze so was unmanageable in the shower. I'm using a very cheap (from Savers/Home Bargains) blonde shampoo at the moment. It's probably got nasties in it but it works for me especially as a small amount foams up even in our very hard water area. Has anyone tried a caffeine shampoo or something that might thicken my hair? I always think my fringe is a bit straggly.:o
You're doing really well on your packing LL.I could do with copying you and going through my wardrobe. Give it a few weeks and it's an excellent time to have a cull when we put summer things away. At least this year we've actually worn them!:D I need to be ruthless!;)
Warm and bright here. Nothing special happening but it feels good.:)0 -
Lesson learned , I think i told you that me and my friend where thinking up names for your house while we was on holiday in Cornwall , Just seems such a calm and tranquil place there that the Hobbity names came aflowing ,
Might as well tell you what we came up with , even though youve chosen your name , What started the ball rolling was a house name we saw called Wits End . Made us smile , and i told my friend about you trying to think of a name for your new home ,
Heres what we thought up
Fern Hollow
Elf Glen
Butterfly Retreat
Moon Shadow
Candlestick Cottage
Here Be Magic
The Chestnut Tree
Moon Dew
Damsells Rest
Peace Haven
Periwinkle Cottage
The Otherworld
Cobwebs Gather Here
Here Be Magic
I think Candlestick Cottage would have been my favourite out of our names. but Rainbows End is beautiful . especially with it being connected to your parents ,0 -
"Rainbows End"
I love that. What a beautiful name for a house and there's a story behind the name too.
I had to buy a new bottle of cleansing lotion today. I've used up all the bits and pieces I had save for a bit in the bottom of the last bottle which will only last for a few days more. I wonder if I'm using too much or if it's just that my skin was in such bad condition to start with? Anyway, I like Simple products and it was half price in Superdrug. I think I've got enough toner, moisturiser (of different makes and eye cream to keep me going for ever (well six months anyway).
Do you know I never thought of doing that with squeezy bottles that don't squeeze. I'm sure we have some quite expensive body lotion I'll be doing that with.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0 -
Aw thanks ladies.....glad you like the name.
Some brillitant suggestions there though Moll. Candlestick Cottage is lovely, and Peace Haven has a nice ring to it. Damsells Rest. Lol. Love it. Periwinkle is so pretty. I think it's nice if you can find a feature so a specimen tree such as The Chestnuts, The Oaks, The Cedars, the Limes, etc are all great names. Or perhaps a really nice climbing plant like roses, honeysuckle, wisteria, jasmine or a tree like magnolia, or lilac.
My husband once fell in love with a cottage called Rose cottage, yes it had roses round the door, we didn't buy it because we couldn't afford it but he said it was his ambition to live in a "Rose Cottage" one day. We did, however, once live in a "Ross House".:rotfl:
Some people use family names or maiden names which can be nice.
The first house I ever bought after I divorced my first husband had a Christmas tree in the garden and I moved in on New Year's Eve, so I called it Christmas Cottage.
DS1s house is called Punch Bowl Cottage, no idea where that came from but we do know that it was once a pub so maybe that's why.
Feel a bit groggy after my acupuncture, nasty headache and tummy upset so haven't done much.
Off to bed now........hopefully I'll sleep it off and be fine tomorrow.0 -

thats what we did , my maiden name was hill . so we used mine and my DH surnames to make our house name , Some people thought we owned the hill what we lived on , lol0 -
Our bungalow's name is in memory of the aunt who left me the inheritance. It is called 'Tavera' (Ta Vera).
I like Rainbow's End, what a pretty name, and one with meaning and a family link as well(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
We're still in the first house we bought and it's No 1 so its called Casa Prima!
Going sailing with a friend today at staying at a marina overnight so no fabbing but plenty of moisturiser!
Have a good day all.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Well ladies.....I am practically climbing the walls with frustration......can't get through to my solicitor......she was supposed to ring me back on Monday. And the estate agent has no progressing department until 2nd September. Grrrrrrrr,!!!
Normally I rent in between selling and buying. I haven't sold and then bought in one transaction before......never, never, never again. I did it to save money.....but it's MSE too far for me. It's just not worth the aggro.
Anyway rant over. :rotfl: just sitting outside with my coffee trying to chill.
I've started another round of the kitchen.....packing away as much as I can for now, then clean all the cupboards, oven, fridge freezer etc. Then it will only need a quick wipe down on moving day. i figure the more I can do now the easier it will be on the day.
My hands are wrecked, need to give myself a manicure later today. And maybe get my haircut early next week unless by some miracle legal completion takes place. Can't see it now though.:(
Nice day here - warm and sunny with a gentle breeze.0 -
